Should I let my one year old stay over with her dad and his family although she doesn't know them very well

My BD wants DD to stay over at his house with him and his family, he has met her about 7 times and didn't come into her life until she was 5 months old due to walking out on us and not being ready to be a dad, his family have met her twice for a few hours, he lives two hours away, he has told me I either let her stay over or he's taking me to court. He keeps talking to me saying we are a family and he only wants the fairness. but then threatens me with court all the time.

Let him take you to court. You are already building up access but my kid’s doctor had met him more than that by the time he was 1. I would get a lives with order before any overnights.

Gosh no way. Put in place regular reasonable contact first.

What a twat. Tell him you’ll see him in court. I highly doubt he’ll bother though unless it’s his family pushing for it.

What's BD?

Bosabosa · 10/05/2023 10:44

No. Too soon. Build contact slowly. A court will put her needs first. My child wasn't ready to spend a night without me, even with her dad who I love and live with, until around 2. Every child is different of course but I cannot imagine a situation where you would be ordered to leave a one year old with her father overnight who has met her so few times. He needs to put the work in to build up the relationship with her. And I really hope he does if he is a good man.

Nope. Let him take you to court.

He won't.
