I think I have finally lost the plot ...am hoovering nooks and crannnies , hiding the overflow from the laundry pile in the bedroom and been out and bought a smelly thing for the loo and new handwash!! he is FIVE FGS!!!!..fine with all his other mates it's just this one I have seen his immaculate white house...I do not want to be judged by a five year old and found lacking ....I need help !!
(just needed to vent...sorry )

Lol, I know what you mean. We had our 4yo neighbour here one afternoon and when he went to the loo he commented it was dirty (a pube I think on the rim). I felt mightily embarrassed. He hasn't been back since. I mean the house was fairly clean, but I don't clean the toilet every time DP uses it. that to me would be OCD.

lol, I do this too, when actually all they do is go straight up to the bedroom and ransack that!. I feel like I have to do this especially when you know they come from a nicer, tidier house than yours!, funny aint it?

Don't worry though, he won't even notice, he's only 5.

lol, he won't care what your house looks like

Have stopped and had a brew.... will hoover stairs and DS1's bedroom then bugger it!..anyway DS2 & DD will be awake soon and trash it all anyway ...but then maybe I should shovel some of the sweet wrappers out of the car too as I am picking them both up

I only worry about tidying for playdates if the mother is coming along too or collecting afterwards!

cornsilk · 18/02/2008 13:36

I don't bother any more tho' I used to do clean madly as well. Finally realised they don't really care! All they're really bothered about is whether you've got any decent snacks in!

andysbelly · 18/02/2008 13:37

I was the same when my son had friends over, for some reason I end up thinking that the kids will find the place a shit hole and will go and tell their parents and the kids at school how scruffy we are and that DS will be bullied as a result. madness really as the kids have never looked twice at anything when they actually get here.

Furball · 18/02/2008 13:37

you'll regret it as you'll probably have to tidy it all again once he's gone! I find friends just seem to raid toy cupboards looking for stuff that isn't there.

Mum is picking up after and have been given list of foods he will eat (very fussy eater !) and I am to ring if any problems, just think the poor child is going to collapse in our chaotic house

If he doesn't eat what you give him, don't worry, just tell his mum when she turns up.
