16 week old teething

My DD is 16 weeks and has her bottom canine coming through first (!?) The tooth has erupted just about and I can see and feel it just out of the gum.

The last 2 days shes been so upset by it, sleep is disturbed and she has periods of really crying in pain, although can be calmed down with lots of cuddles

I've given paracetamol and ibuprofen via syringe but she spits it out lol (any tips on getting her to swallow meds?). I know most of the medicated gels can't be used until 5/6 months and the other homeopathic powders/gels I have don't seem to help. She also hates cold things so frozen breast milk/muslin clothes have been refused.

Just wondering if there's any tips or anything that helped your DC's, or is this a case of having to ride it out? I'm a zombie at the minute and sleeping downstairs with her in the pram as she's just fallen asleep in it, otherwise she just wants to sleep on me.

HELP

Wow, a bottom canine first? Canines are usually 18-24 months I believe and I've heard they are super super painful - my LO is 17 months and hasn't had these yet but I'm dreading it.

All I can suggest in terms of getting her to swallow meds is to give her say 1ml in her mouth, squeeze it into her cheek and put a dummy straight in so she sucks straight away, that's what I have to do sometimes.

Have you heard of anbesol? Not sure on what age she can have it but it is a god send. Sending lots of sleepy dust and praying you get some sleep x

Maybe it's the lateral incisor? Either way seems very early. I'll have to try and take a picture later on.

Shes just woken for a feed and I'm desperately rocking the pram for her to stay asleep and not wake herself up nawing her hands.

Good shout with using a dummy after meds...she's never taken a dummy but does like this teething toy I've got for her so I'll do the trick with that instead. Anbesol is 5 months I think but hopefully by the time the next ones come through we'll be able to use it!

Syringe small amounts at time towards the back of the cheek.

This!

Or put the syringe in a teat if she takes a bottle and do it through there. Or mix it in a yogurt for future attempts when weaning.
