Insect repellent for babies?

We are going to Kefalonia in June with our 11 month old and I’ve heard there are mosquitoes there. Just wondering which insect repellents are safe for babies and actually work? Are those mosquito plug-ins safe for babies room at night if we need it?

I don't know about mosquito plug ins, but it's likely your best bet is a net over the cot at night and one for the pram if where you're going is thick with them. I would be tempted to put a citronella candle outside the door of the room they're sleeping in, and perhaps one outside near the window to their room (if possible). I don't think you're supposed to burn a citronella candle near babies.

There are also Buzz Patch stickers, which you pop onto clothing near exposed areas of skin (on the back, maybe, where baby won't just pull it off). They're citronella based, but I'd do a patch test first to be sure in case. Haven't tried them myself yet, but have been meaning to get some. https://naturalpatch.co.uk/products/buzzpatch-magicpatch-bundles

I live in southern Europe in a mosquito area. I've always used plug ins in my children's rooms. Some of them are just citronella some have stronger chemicals that might not be safe for children, you'd have to check the packet. I suggest buying something locally when you arrive as it depends what mosquitoes they have (and it would be the correct plug for EU sockets
). We have invasive tiger mosquitoes here and you really need something strong to keep them away. Citronella candles are pretty ineffective in my experience (and I'd worry about unattended candles) but the essential oil spray is good. You can usually find it in the supermarket.
You could also get a mosquito net to go over their cot? Or just aim an oscillating fan on them at night so the mozzies get wafted away.

Thanks both for the tips! Good idea to buy the plug-in locally although we are arriving too late to go shopping so wouldn’t have it available for the first night. Also a bit worried about being able to check the ingredients if written in Greek. Not sure how bad the mosquitoes will be as haven’t been there before.
