Bedtime for 3.5 yo?

My 3.5yo has always gone to bed at 7pm and up and 6am and it's been this way since he started sleeping through the night at 1. He sometimes used to wake early but we solved that with a gro clock which we still use now.
He's been saying he's not tired at bedtime recently and now started waking up very early (about 5) to go for a wee but then he does back to bed and doesn't sleep, he just messes about until the groclock changes at 6.
Im wondering if I should start putting him to bed later and hope he sleeps in in the morning? Am I putting him to bed too early now? How long should I expect him to sleep? Please let me know what you do with your 3.5yo!

Yes try later.

Hi, my son had just turned 4 and he goes to bed at half seven. If he wakes up too early he is allowed to watch his tablet in bed (I have to get up to give it him) until his clock shows the sun and then we get up together. The most he normally has it is 45 minutes and he doesn't watch it in the day. This seems to be working for us at the moment but all children are different. It doesn't help that it stays lighter for longer either. Good luck and I hope he starts sleeping in for you soon.

Our daughter goes down at 8ish, sometimes 8.30 if we've had a hectic evening or a bath time etc! And then she'll wake up between 7.30 and 8.30. Sometimes she wakes up during the night, but mostly she sleeps through.

Presume not napping anymore? Between 2 and 3 bedtime has definitely got later for us. It’s closer to 7:45 or 8 now where as at 2 DS was shattered by 7pm. More like 11 hours overnight now as opposed to 12-13. DS isn’t dry at night yet though - Id try a later bedtime but equally it might be a toileting issue. Does he have a wee last thing before bed and do you limit fluids in the evening?

8pm here, wake-up around 6.30-7am usually.

I would absolutely stick with 7.

DD just turned four and does 8pm to 7am. Thinking back over the past year bedtime has crept later and later from 7pm to 8pm without our evening routine changing much, she’s just naturally not been able to sleep earlier than 8pm unless absolutely zonked.

Definitely try a later bedtime. In this country we put young children to bed too early and overestimate how much sleep they need, therefore early waking is a common problem. If he's waking earlier than usual that's the way his body is saying he doesn't need as much sleep as he used to. If you're worried about doing a later bedtime maybe try shifting it later by 10-15 minutes each day and see how thing go. As a comparison my 13 month old goes to bed between 8-8:30 (usually closer to 8:30) and wakes between 6-6:30. Obviously still having naps though too which I presume yours isn't.

My DS goes to sleep between 8.30/9.30 and sleeps until about 6.30/7.30.

My 3.5 year old goes to sleep between 7.30 and 8pm. I tell her it's nearly bed time from 7pm though and wind down before then.
