1st birthday party

Hey all!

I am trying to organise my LG birthday party and it's so hard! I really want to make it so special esp as she's my little miracle (5 MCs before I had her) and I always dreamt when I finally had a birthday party for my baby it would be amazing 😍

We organised a hall, bouncy castle and cars etc (it was a set)

So I'm trying to find cups, plates and napkins for her princess theme but I can't seem to find more than ten which is like £20 which I can't justify as I have just come off maternity and her bday is next month.

Any help would be amazing!

Just get plain pink ones, she won’t remember and others will just think u r going over the top.

At this age the party is for you not her- and that’s fine but do you really care about princess plates? Would plain ones do?

MuffinToSeeHere · 04/05/2023 07:55

I'm confused are you saying you can't find some bog standard plates and cups for less than £20?

I get that you want to make it special but please don't lose sight of the fact that she's 1, she will not be able to play on the bouncy castle and will likely get overwhelmed by the whole thing especially as it sounds like lots of people are coming. Just get a pack of white paper plates and maybe next year don't do something so over the top.

I'm looking for specific princess theme, she won't remember but we will! I also don't think it's over the top I seen loads of one years old having bouncy castle. I haven't been very well so I have been feeling awful currently so I just want to make up to her as I have been so unwell.

I guess just plain pink one could work!

With all kindness you really won't remember or care if she had white, pink or princess plates when you think back to her first birthday in months or year to come.

It just seems utter madness that you admit to having money worries after finishing maternity leave which is understandable and yet in the same breath you're spending hundreds of pounds on a birthday party. She'd probably be much happier with a day trip to the farm with you than an elaborate party. Don't let guilt get you into debt.

Could you get different plain colours that match the princess theme ? Pink plates, gold napkins , something with stars…. Etc You know mix and match a kind of palette so that it all comes together anyway

It’s maybe not hundreds of pounds though. I looked it or bouncy castle hire and it was £70 for the day. didn’t go with it in end but was surprised it was cheaper than I thought.

You can’t make up to a child by buying them things. But Tesco, asda and wilko will all sell princess themed partyware.

Firsttimemummy23 · 04/05/2023 08:51

We have about 60 people coming so we can't cancel now, I'll have a look around and find some alternative.

Supermarkets often do paper party cups and plates. I would just go for something in a nice colour. They will be dumped in the bin within 30 mins of getting them out and no-one will really notice or care what colour or design they were.

ReluctantFishLady · 04/05/2023 08:55

Morrisons are good for party stuff, if you have one nearby.
