Should I go back to work?

I have a 6 month old, my first baby. The plan was to take a year off (I'm self employed) then my husband and I would each work a different 3 days a week, so we swap who is working and who is looking after baby, and have 1 day together.

An opportunity has come up to work for a lovely local independent business, I think I would really enjoy it. A few days a week, 10-5. So we could do our plan now rather than when she's 12mo. But is it too soon? We just started introducing solids a week ago and she's still BF. She will take formula if I'm out for a few hours but is it too early to leave her all day?

Feel like I'm treating her like a PFB and she will be fine with her dad. But on the other hand, I don't need to rush back to work now and could savour more time with her? What would you do?

When I had dc1 maternity leave was only 6 months, so dc1 was in nursery from then on. I continued to breast feed till 19 Months and expressed for when I was at work.
When dt came along I took 14 months off work (due to cost of having 3 in childcare). Their all teenagers now and I can't say which way was best.
What I would say is will the job be there in 6 months time (I'm guessing not)?
And more importantly will you regret not taking it down the line? Because 6 months in your child's life seems a long time, but 6 months in a child's life is not long and a good work life balance during your child's life is probably more beneficial to you/your child than an extra 6 months full time now.
Also can your dh take some extended leave ? Would that help you transition/feel better?
Mum guilt is awful, but in hindsight sometimes I've made decisions because its best for my dc at that point in time, when actually I should have looked at the long term benefits of the situation.
