Should I stop weaning?

Baby is 6 months old (turned 6 months on 20th April). He has suspected CMPA so is on neocate for that and he was fine on it. Ever since we’ve introduced solids (single vegetables and a couple of fruits) he’s had horrific acidic smelling mucus nappies! He used to go every 3 days when just on milk but now it’s twice a day

hes actually dropped a little weight since weaning too. We are under a dietician but I can’t get through to him and I’m currently in a huge queue on the phone to the doctors. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar? I’m tempted to stop weaning all together and just stick to the milk to let his gut rest and then start again with weaning and doing single veggies at a time but this time doing that same veg for 3 days at a time

It might be worth trying the single foods to see how he reacts. Some fruit is very acidic and can cause this kind of thing.

@BertieBotts he’s only had a couple of fruits it’s been mainly veggies he’s had. Still
no word from the dietician so I think I will pause weaning for a few days and then go back to the beginning and start single veggies again :(

Don't panic, I'm sure he'll get there :) There's no harm in having a slower start to weaning.

@BertieBotts this is my second baby but he’s SO different from my first! But you’re right I guess there isn’t any harm in him being a little late to weaning

Could you try porridge or similar? Something a little easier to digest? How are you serving the veggies?

SassyPants87 · 03/05/2023 16:12

@CoalCraft yes I do think maybe I should start with something easier to digest. I was wondering if the veggies and fruit are a bit much for his gut to handle at the moment having only ever had milk and maybe it’s not an intolerance/allergy but merely gut can’t handle it too much at the moment

Yes I was also thinking porridge or some other cereal type thing.
