Overlapping toes

Any experience / advice / expertise of this?

My daughter’s toes have always sort of crossed over. She’s always developed as expected - walking just before 1 etc. Doesn’t appear to be in any pain with it.

I had a podiatrist look at her about 6 months ago. She said everything looked ok, no obvious concerns. It might just be the way her feet are.

Since then, they seem even more crossed over? On one foot, the toes seem to be rubbing together, causing peeling. Again, she’s doesn’t appear to be in any pain, or that it’s hindering her walking. I’m just worried that it might be one of those things that is better picked up earlier than later.

Any experience / advice / expertise of this? Does she just have funky toes?

I think I'd ask your GP, or get a second opinion from a podiatrist.
It might not both her as a small child but could cause issues when she's older. I'm sure one of my school friends had a pinky toe that sat like that, she had a moulded brace thing to hold it down as it was uncomfortable rubbing shoes.

My DS had toes like that. We were sent to see the paediatrician who gave me exercises to do on them to straighten them out a bit. He’s fully grown now and his toes aren’t crossed at all.

I agree that I'd get a 2nd opinion. Have you shown the GP? I would have thought toe separators would be recommended, or a brace to help spread them into a more normal position. It might cause pain and issues later in life, teasing when wearing sandals or the inability to wear certain shoes like heels.
