Kendamil formula

So in a follow up to my previous thread about moving from BF to formula I chose kendamil, primarily because it's cheaper and there's no palm oil. We had been using aptamil ready made with me BF.

Used kendamil for 3 days now and baby is now waking twice in the night (he was sleeping 9pm to 8am) to feed, and gets cranky/grunts alot during the night before doing a giant poo in the morning. Which looks like korma!

Have others had this? Does kendamil not fill babies up enough/it's easier to digest?

Thank you!

We used kendamil but my little ended up very uncomfortable, lots of grunting and straining and then did one huge, green poo per day.
we changed to aptimal she was happier, no more grunting and pooed around 3 times a day but much smaller yellow poo.
i don’t think kendamil agreed with her at all.

You have to give it at least two weeks after changing formula for their digestive system to get used to it

I'm in Ireland and kendamil is 5 euro cheaper than aptamil in our local supermarket which is bonkers! If he continues like this though we might have to suck it up and pay more.
I've read about the green poo, it's still yellow atm but yes just one huge poo in the morning. Aptamil was about 2-3 poops every day, although he did grunt.
I'll keep him on it for a second week and see if he settles. Thanks for the replies!

There are lots of threads about Kendamil not suiting some babies. Have you thought about swapping formula, maybe try Hipp Comfort?

mclane · 17/10/2023 08:15

i suggested to doctors about changing his milk when i first started happening they told me not to maybe ill take him back and see what they say again

Did they say why? I would change it and see if he improves, if not, then take him back Wink

mclane · 17/10/2023 09:49

because hes happy healthy putting on weight not in pain just his poo is green and loose

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 17/10/2023 15:26

That's no reason not to swap. Sorry to disagree with your GP. Definitely try a comfort formula and if that doesn't make enough of a difference I'd be looking at CMPA Flowers

im in a group
on facebook and many mums are experiancing the same issue and been told same advice but i am taking him back to see what to do next

mclane · 17/10/2023 19:32

they have also tested him for infection milk alergys and everything come back clear

clouise30 · 17/10/2023 20:55

@mclane it's a Kendamill thing don't worry! In the Kendamill group I'm in on Facebook it's called kendapoos! Something to do with seaweed being an ingredient I believe but don't quote me on it. My daughter is the same and is happy, healthy and putting on weight exact as she should be at 14 weeks

mclane · 17/10/2023 21:00

sounds like the same group at mine and he been like it since 7 weeks old sometimes does the odd yellow/mustard poo but more then often its green but ye i read that information to hes such a happy little boy drinks every bottle not sicky or anything which is one reason my gp wasnt concerned thank you

Brightonbelle87 · 18/10/2023 07:23

Just to update the thread - my baby is now 9 months and we stayed with kendamil and its been great! His poos stayed green but he's very regular, and he never got sick with it. He's on solids now as well and mixing the two has been fine, I think the whole milk base of kendamil has helped him transition to food like butter, yoghurt and cheese. Hope this helps!

brilliant news thank u so much

shawmum · 30/12/2023 17:12

My babies 3 weeks old and has been on kendamil first infant milk since day one. He’s been fine on it until 5/6 days ago when it started with a very runny green poo, and now is rather sicky either straight after a feed or approx. An hour or so after and quite alot of sick when it happens. We’ve tried all the tricks feeding sat up, winding in between to stop him guzzling, reducing the teet size etc. but he is totally fine within himself, not showing signs of discomfort etc. no temperature/no crying. Vomits easily with no discomfort - I’m just worried he’s not getting enough milk in as the bottle size has reduced massively and is taking less milk more regularly. Has anyone had this? And would you recommend changing formula? Or sticking it out….

Twelve8Ts · 18/06/2024 18:53

@shawmum did you stick with Kendall or change? My baby is 3 months, very sicky but she has always slept through the night, not in any discomfort etc.
