This is long thread so please bare with me I live in a relatively rough neighbourhood have done for many years in the day time it's lovely as a night something to rival fast and the furious 😠 but a new family have moved In a ways up the road they have 6 or 7 children to my Knowledge not a problem I have my own 3 and one on the way but the middle boy around the age of 5 to 6 is constantly out roaming around the streets at 11pm at night I was pulling my bin up and he is walking around in a pair of pants and a vest speaks to everyone lovely boy (on the spectrum for sure ) this isn't the only time either I had put my toddler quickly in front of the television so I could bring my shopping in from the car he was in the middle of the garden said hello obviously I replied as I came in with the bags he followed me into my house 😱 and as I said u shouldn't be in here without mummy or daddy knowing he ran out the door nd towards another end of the street my partner also who goes to work around the 5am mark has seen him strolling around on his own in the pitch black I'm concerned I have tried to speak ro the parents who are very dismissive and (he is our child we can do what we want ) kind of attitude I don't want to report but what to do 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️

I’d definitely report it, they’re failing at the basic duty of keeping the poor boy safe from harm

Seasonofthewitch83 · 28/04/2023 13:10

I would report that - massive safeguarding concern. I wouldnt bother speaking to the family as they clearly do not give a fuck.

Thank you for replying I think it's going to have to be done as it would haunt me if I didn't do something and something happened ro the poor boy 😢 but will be a hard phone call to make yes the parents are either overwhelmed by the kids as we all know they can be hard or just don't care either way help Is obviously needed

Update on the boy so I hadn't seen him for ages and upon speaking to a few other neighbours a few of those had reported to as another had seen him up by our local shop and that's a good 15 min walk away also cross 2 main roads and this was after 9pm so she reported it I had qswell unfortunately but the last 2 weeks he has been roaming free again should we say and the mother is a nasty piece of work my partner tried to have a word with her in passing about seeing him at 5 am and is she aware her back gate isn't secure think that's where he is getting out from he offered to fix it for her she told him where to go so unfortunately nothing more we can do

If you see an unattended vulnerable minor walking about alone call the police.

I once found a 3yo from my street (knew her by face but not her house and no one looking for her when we returned) asking her dog in vest, pants and wellies at 6am. So I called the police. They were fine, no consequences for family who woke up to find and dog gone as police were arriving and fled out the house in a panic.

But if there are care issues it'll open the help they need as SS will be informed.
