Book for DD4 about trying / not giving up

DD4 is a bright girl but going through an irritating stage of just saying 'I can't' to absolutely anything. From standing up to walking down the stairs at times. She'll try something once, like catching a ball, but if she doesn't crack it first time announces that she's no good at anything and refuses to have another go. Does anyone have any recommendations for good books about keeping trying, having a go and not giving up etc that might provide food for thought?

(FYI - there's nothing wrong with her and she's a generally happy little girl, its just a phase, but I'm finding it quite wearing...)

Dr Seuss Oh the places you'll go might fit the bill a little - all about doing great things but a whole section on sometimes it will be hard or you won't be able to and you have to pick yourself up and keep on.
There's an amazing Bluey episode called Not Giving Up Just Yet which would be perfect!

Btw is she scared to fail, get things wrong, be imperfect? Try to accept this ‘flaw’ in her instead of being irritated by it - that in itself might help her see it’s okay to not be perfect.

Jill Tomlinson - The owl who was afraid of the dark or The hen who wouldn't give up. The first is about the great things that can come from facing your fears and the second about what you can achieve by being determined. Both are very gentle and lovely little stories.

The Dot

Beautiful Oops

Both recommended to me by school when DD went through a similar phase.

You can also do a lot of modelling - share when you’re finding things frustrating or hard and how you’re going to keep practising/trying.

Tilda Tries Again

agreed - this was going to be my suggestion

Jabari Jumps, Izzie Gizmo, Aaron Slater Illustrator (this one is a bit trickier, depends on her maturity)

Agree with pp re. The Dot, also Ish in the same series.

Some great suggestions here, thank you. Heroicallyfound she absolutely knows its OK not to be perfect, but you're a better mother than me if 'I can't to everything from putting on socks to opening the door doesn't start to grate a little. I KNOW she's great at so many things and celebrate her trying as much as we congratulate success, I think she just needs a nudge in that direction...
