My 4 month old is just not sleeping in the day🤦🏻‍♀️ she keeps getting really cranky and tired and then falls asleep for about 10/20 mins then wakes up screaming again. She sleeps great at night as she's in a routine for bed time but in the day it's just impossible to get her to sleep for longer. Any suggestions please? As I'm trying to get things done but she's just crying constantly because she's tired and then nothing gets done.

4 months is such hard work. What have you tried to get her to sleep?

I try walks in the pushchair which works sometimes. I've tried the usual way to get her to sleep which is bouncing her rubbing her nose and it always works but seems like she's not sleeping long enough. Tried white noise, baby sleep music. Absolutely everything I can think of! She is falling asleep but not for long at all. I really don't know what else to do

Have you tried sticking her in the sling and walking around the house? I found this plus the extractor fan a winning combination!

I don't have a sling I will have a look for one now. Hopefully this will be a lot easier as she don't like being put down. Any that you recommend? as I don't know much about them.

She sounds overtired by your description. Can you put her down a bit earlier? Make the room as dark as you possibly can, do all the usual sleep things like white noise, and just interact with her as little as possible until she's asleep. Calmly stroke her cheek if she'll tolerate it (mine wouldn't), or shhhhh gently.

This age is really tricky. I remember once spending 3 hours trying to get my son to take a nap. Drained and after failing, I brought him back to his play mat in the living room and sat down for 5 min to collect myself. The little monster took this opportunity to drift into a snooze! (I eventually cracked naps 2 months later)

I would get on eBay a baby Bjorn mini and a close Caboo soft sling and see which she prefers, my DS preferred the structure of the Bjorn but lots of people prefer the slings. Or, even better, get down to a sling library if there's one nearby!
