Baby in carrycot or seat?

Hi,

My 1 year old (10 months corrected) is developmentally delayed, being investigated for a brain injury etc, she has good head control but is nowhere near sitting and is quite wobbly at times.

I've got a new pram recently and I don't know whether to put her in the carrycot (she's only tiny) or to put her in the seat? She's not the type to fuss and want to look around to be honest but at the same time, I don't want to hinder her in any way.

Thanks.

I guess this is a question for the specialists, I have exactly zero knowledge here. Does she see a physio or anything?

I would try her in the seat on a low setting if you like, and see how she goes. My babies were big and met their milestones, they went into the buggy seat at about 4 months as they didn't like the carry cot. They weren't able to sit at that age but were fine strapped in the seat so you may find your girl is the same. Perhaps being upright a little will be good for her muscles?

On the other hand, if she's happy lying in the carry cot then maybe that suits her better, and she may find the seat tiring. Plus, if you're using the pram for naps and want her to sleep, then keep the carry cot for as long as possible I'd say - who wouldn't rather sleep lying flat in a bed.

This is a very long way of saying, trial and error, and trust your instincts. Flowers

Thank you :) She does see a physio and she was upright in her previous pram and physio never commented. She just never seemed comfy as her body is very twisted.

I'll see how she seems in the carrycot.
Thank you Smile

I think the seat should be fine. Most have a lay flat mode anyway, so lay it down to a slight incline and gradually try sat up more over time if she can cope. You can buy pram inserts or physio might recommend something else to help support her

I'd ask the physio's advice about whether it will help her develop the muscles, or tire her, or neither at all. Get as much info out of the sessions as you can Grin

If she's already been happily sitting in another pram I'm sure she'll be fine though.
