Introducing milk ladder

When did you do it? Starting to think about it's as baby is almost 10months old

Been on neocate - just weaned off carobel which has gone down well

Did you have to wait until a year or did anyone try sooner?

Under whos advice ? We have no follow up with a paediatrician or dietitian- the care has been pretty awful and HV don't really know - asked at baby clinic today - she said they can do a referral for a dietitian but it's a 5 month wait!

She will be 15 months by then

Thank you - looks good think I was just over thinking it but it seems pretty straight forward
Thanks!

DS is 4 months old and on Neocate but we don't use a thickener with it. I asked the doctor to refer him to a dietician which he done last week so hoping it won't take ages!

I wanted the dietician to help with weaning etc and especially the milk ladder! Our HV didn't know about it either.

DS is a twin and his sister doesn't have CMPA and my older DS (3) didn't have CMPA either so this all new to me!

Our dietician said try from one year onwards

We had a telephone consultation and she sent us some pamphlets and just told us to take it slow and watch out for reactions. We are on yoghurt so far after about 2 months so hopefully he will be able to milk soon

Go slowly.... my 5.5yo is fine with pancakes but still fails at chocolate and yoghurt.

We used thickener as my girl had bad reflux and was always sick ! Because it's so thin it made a massive difference but now luckily she's outgrown reflux so hopefully she will outgrow cmpa too

Our referral there was a 5 month wait and we saw her when baby was 6 months x

And what's the deal with formula ? Do you carry on with neocate after 12 months or can you try sometime like soya or oat as surely like pp have said the ladder may take some time as you need to go slow

I went straight to cows milk with my first but obviously she didn't have these issues

You can try Soya or Oat. Get the fortified ones. Consider a vitamin eg Abidec. Some babies don’t tolerate Soya so watch out for this.

Thank you, she's already having soya and oat in her weetabix every now and then so know she's ok on both - she doesn't really care for that much milk so will make sure she has her vitamins x she eats really well which is good
They gave her a full blood count which I thought would be horrendous at 6 months but it was worse for me ! To check her iron levels as Dr said she looked pale but a few weeks or so on an iron rich diet, she looks healthy so I feel better now about the milk ladder thank you
X
