M&S sleeping bag - min weight

I’m looking at ordering a couple of 0-6m sleeping bags from M&S but I can’t see any guidance online of the minimum weight (they’d be for my newborn). Does anyone have one and do they come with any details on this? I live abroad so returning is a bit of a pain. Thank you!

All the ones I have say 7.5lbs

Thanks for such a quick reply! DS is around that right now and gaining so sounds like a good option.

Hi op mines says 10lbs and should not be used for a baby weighing less than this.

Yeah I have a 0-6m sleeping bag for my 4mo and minimum weight on the label is 8lb 13oz. DS was early and 5lb 6 born so we had a while to wait!

Thanks for checking - I was just about to order but I’ll look elsewhere. They don’t really do sleeping bags here so it’s such a pain.

You can just use blankets until he reaches the minimum weight (we did). If he's over 7lbs and gaining then it won't be long before you can use them!

trrk · 24/04/2023 16:40

Can you get any of the swaddle type sleeping bags? They are often better for newborns. The normal sleeping bags in 0-6 months are about the only baby item I didn't use as my DD preferred the swaddle ones and was too long for the 0-6 ones once we stopped swaddling. There are a few types like the Tommee Tippee that have arms in and can be converted to a normal sleeping bag and Love to Dream that have arms up (these were preferred by my DD as she naturally slept with arms up). All the swaddle ones come in sizes suitable for newborns. Blankets were useless for my DD as she aways kicked them off.

Most sleeping bags are only four k and above. I remember desperately willing my baby to grow and fit into them. Cellular blankets were good in the meantime

swissrollisntswiss · 25/04/2023 03:12

@trrk I agree, the tommee tippee ones are all we used with our first. I do have a couple but I’ve realised I could do with an extra one or two as this baby is a bit more refluxy. Unfortunately I can’t get them delivered out here

@DragonbornMum thanks, I thought about this again and realised it won’t be long either. He was back to his birth weight today and delivery times are over a week so I imagine I’ll only need to wait a couple of weeks after receiving them and just ordered.

I think the bags say the minimum weight on the labels but many are 8-12 pounds weight to start with
