we have just started using real nappies and use prefolds for our 12 week old ,and these seem to work really well, im very impressed! but our two year old is a different story. we just cant seem to find a nappie that will not leak , or ones we dont have to boost that much he looks like a sumo wrestler! he now seems to have developed a nappie shaped rash and we have to change him at least every hour. please any help and advice would be gratfully received, thanks .

Hi, I am also fairly new to cloth nappies. Have found Tots bots nappies really good for our 14 month old. I tried prefolds and they leaked constantly! Tots bots also do a coloured rainbow nappy which is slightly slimmer fitting for daytime use. If you use a fleece liner instead of a disposable one you will find his bum stays much dryer as is draws moisture away from the skin. Another good nappy is the bumble which is completely fleece lined and is lovely for all night wear. Tots bots website is \link{http://www.totsbots.com}. Also the nappy lady offers extremely good advice and support at \link{http://the nappylady.co.uk}

With regard to nappy rash, we had severe nappy rash after about 3 days in cloth. I found that using only half the usual amount of washing powder helped. Also I soak my nappies in a weak solution of white vinegar rather than the chemical nappy powders you can get. Lastly using the fleece liners. I hope this helps a little. Smile

Sorry had a few problems with my links Blush Tots Bots website is www.totsbots.com

Agree! Tot's or rainbows sound the way to go. Using the non-aplix helps in reducing some of the bulk and definitely recommend fleece liners. I've never soaked and use normal detergent at 40C but I do make sure they have a nice long rinse cycle - a year down the track have had no rashes or stains on naps. I used size 2 tots from birth (and MEOS, great also) so you could put both your wee ones in them saving some dosh. I'll put money on you loving them and hopefully the leaky bum problem will be a thing of the past. \link{http://kittykins.co.uk\Here} is the site I use and LOVE. Very user friendly, great pictures and lots of advice.

thank you for all your advice, we are trying tots bots ,but he is a heavy wetter and i find we still have to boost a lot for night time.which makes walking a little difficult for him! and we still cant find a slimer , more absorbant daytime nappie(or am i expecting to much?)but we will keep ploding on and hopefully find the right one that suits his needs.motherease and kooshies are having a trial next, fingers crossed!

Hi again steggy. Why don't you give the nappy ladys web site a go. You can complete an in depth questionnaire online. A nappy advisor will email you a complete response to all aspects of the questionnaire and will advise you which nappy would be most suitable in your circumstances. It's probably better than keep buying nappies only to find they leak and you are not obliged to buy from the Nappy Lady. I bought a trial pack from them after my advice letter, but purchased my main supply of nappies elsewhere. Hemp nappies are supposed to be more absorbant and less bulky but I've never tried them so can't really comment on that one. I wish you luck in your search for the perfect nappy. Smile

Oh, meant to say. Personally, I found Kushies a disaster. I didn't find them very absorbant. During the day DS needed 2 booster pads and 4 during the night and they still leaked at the waistband. They look nice and are easy to use, but other than that not very sucessful. I think with your ds being such a heavy wetter you may be wasting your money.
