18 months out of uni and won't get a job. I'm pulling my hair out. What do I do?

You need to ask more detailed questions about the online investing.

Investing in what? How? What funds does he have to invest? Where from? Returns? Is your home registered as his place of business?

Fwiw, I know someone who set up her own company with a partner, who WFH long before covid, and whose mother complained endlessly that she didn't have a job. To the mother, working and earning meant being an employee, getting a regular paycheque, 9-5 hours, etc.

Start charging market rent for a house share and then see if his "investing online" can cover it if not time to get a proper job.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest.
