6 month old sleeping on tummy

So my six month old can roll back to front, and has taken to sleeping on their front, which I know is fine for them to do if they get themselves in that position and I continue to put them down on their back. Altho, baby does seem to have their face in to the mattress sometimes!
my question is, my baby can’t roll back again 🙈 they done it ages ago around four months, probably to escape tummy time haha, but since they started rolling back to front they seem to have forgotten how to roll front to back! So is it ok to leave them still? I spend my day flipping them back Over!

I was told that if they roll themselves that way it was fine. I found it unsettling at first! I don’t try and flip them anymore, but I do turn the head if they seem to be fully face to mattress!

When my DC were babies the advice was to put them on their tummies to sleep. they both did this from birth - we all did it - and they both grew up big and strong.

The advice changed due a cot death campaign spearheaded by Anne Diamond how lost her son, Sebastian.

Kindly stop giving out old fashion advice that is dangerous.

OP apparently they "forget" briefly after learning a movement how to do an old movement.

However as they are 6 months and can flip themselves into a position leave them be.

I think the guidance is to put them down to sleep on their backs until they are a year old but once they can roll it is OK to leave them if they roll over while asleep.

I remember freaking out when my 4 mo started doing this!

Once they can roll, it's fine. Continue to place them on their back, but you'll find they'll automatically roll into whatever position they wish. As it was my PFB, I tried rolled blankets to stop them plus turning them - it made no difference & the rolled blanket was probably inadvisable anyway.

Yeah it’s not so much the tummy sleeping but the fact he’s now decided he can’t remember how to get back again - but suppose he has really good head and neck control so that’s key isn’t it.

spent an hour flipping him back putting him to bed tonight only for him to immediately keep flipping to tummy so left him and he fell asleep… hope that’s not against guidance. I did put him on his back but he only stayed on it for seconds 🙈

Exactly - he has the sufficient head & neck control needed to make this now a safe sleeping position.

As you said, turning him over makes no difference!
