Holiday with a toddler! Tips?

So we took on DS on holiday when he was 8mo it was easy! We picked somewhere that’s a 2hr flight away he slept flight there and back (we picked later times for this)

now we have one booked he’ll be 18mo and I am nervous! Currently 15mo he is so active he hates sitting still unless sleepy! But he throws major tantrums too and I’m nervous we picked a 4hr flight this time he may nap on them but there’ll still be a few hours and I’m scared he will majorly kick off the whole flight

I know this is. A normal fear how do I keep him happy entertained

I have a 15 month old as well. I think snacks will be you best distraction for the flight.
Being a 4 hour flight, hopefully you'll have more room.

We did a 10hr flight with an 18mo, it was exhausting but went well.
My tips would be get them a seat, I'd never do a flight without an 18mo having a seat.
Lots of small toys, some new which you can wrap up as unwrapping will just give them something extra to do! Favourite books if they have them, we always like to buy a new one at the airport too. Alllll the snacks, particularly small things which take them longer to eat!
Tablet with their favourite shows on, my DD wouldn't wear headphones but happily watched it for short periods with no sound. Also found anything turned into a toy - an empty bottle that she spent a while putting the lid back on, pulling the leaflets in and out of the seat pocket etc.

We did a 4 hour flight with an active 18 month old last year.

I agree about a separate seat, it was a life saver. (He sat on my lap for take off and landing)It also meant he slept across his seat and our laps as we sat on either side of him.

We had our ipad and headphones for him and had games and shows downloaded. He hadn't seen the games before so was transfixed. But, also spent a fair amount of time playing with the easyjet menu card!

I also took plenty of snacks.

What also helped were the times we travelled - it meant he was tired and had naps on both flights.

I bought a few things I had seen recommended on a previous thread on here but none of them held any interest. He hates stickers so that was out and the toy with lots of buckles and zips that supposedly keeps them entertained wasn't even looked at!

Thanks for your tips!

currently he won’t watch anything apart from some Ms Rachel. He sits for 10-15 mins then will walk around and glance at her or look but does move

is this just because he’s only just started walking and it’s fun?? Will he sit eventually😂😂😂

Just some friendly advice do bit out them in any floating waistcoat devices as last year DS was in 8 inches of water and fell forwards but the wright of the jacket with water in it meant he couldn't ground his feet to stand himself back up. Luckily I was in the water within in 5?seconds and pulled him up right. They are such a hazard.

I found that people on the flight were quite happy having Him walk up and down the aisles, we also took flash cards too plus lots of snacks and kinetic sand too.

Happy holidays 😎
