Is it normal for baby to be sleepier and more irritable on hols??

Hello,
typing this from our holiday of hell and wondering about other mums experiences.
we are currently on our first family holiday with our 11mo. I love him to bits but it has been the most unenjoyable week of my life!
i know you need to be flexible with sleep on hols and generally during the day he has been fine but come night has been torture. He is up every 45 mins-1hr and way clingier than normal - he’s usually a really independent baby but he screams until I hold him (he won’t let my partner cuddle him). He seems to hate the travel cot which I can understand as it is unfamiliar. I had bought slept in travel cot sheets with us (plus his usual grobag/white noise) but the cot we were given was far too big for them to fit.
at home he can normally go 3-4 hours without a nap but here he is cranky within an hour/1.5. I put it down to the heat plus being in the pool/swimming exhausting him more than normal. But at what point do I need to worry if there’s something wrong? I can’t help but panic that he is sleeping way more than normal. Meal times are an absolute nightmare as he’s so tired by the time the restaurant opens for dinner (7pm) and he won’t even eat the emergency pouches I bought him as back up (usually his fave!)
he’s napping well in the pram with the snooze shade on which is a plus, but my mind is in overdrive. Plus I’m shattered!
is this normal?

Not sure if normal but sounds similar to my recent abroad holiday with a 5m old. Granted he would need to nap here more often than your 11m old but I found that the heat exhausted him. He would wake from a 2 hour nap and within ten mins be rubbing his eyes and needing a sleep!
we attached a fan to his pram which helped and basically kept him just a nappy during the day (no vest or anything) or his swimwear which we kept wet/damp. he seemed much happier at night so can only assume it was the heat.

It’ll be the heat I imagine. Mine always sleep more on holiday. Try a ringed out Muslin cloth over him to keep him cool and lots of water to drink.
