15 month old boy pulling at nappy in discomfort??

Hi guys,

My little boy pulls at his nappy and appears to be in discomfort?? Sometimes when I take the nappy off him his penis can be a little swollen but goes down again . There doesn’t seem to be any redness there or other obvious signs of discomfort, and sometimes it hasn’t enlarged at all (I can understand the discomfort if it has and it’s stuck in the nappy). I usually take off his nappy at the point and let him run around for a little while to let the air at it . He does tend to touch and be at it during this time but the discomfort seems to go? Should I bring him to the doctor or could it be annoyance that he can’t maybe get at it when he wants?? Also his nappies are never heavy etc . TIA

I would check if he has a UTI

Agree with PP, I wonder if weeing is hurting him. I'd be inclined to have a GP rule it out

Some children's urine can react with the chemicals in the nappy and it causes a burning sensation, apparently Lidl's are the ones without this chemical in.
Change the nappy every 2 hours to prevent it from getting too thick and heavy.

Chaffing off the nappy? Do you point his penis down when you put the nappy on? I always did with mine! Less leaks if you can!

Just an update - I tried Lidl nappies as suggested above and have had 0 issues since! 😀👍
