Pushchairs, if money was no object?

If you had a reasonable budget (not thousands and thousands like celebs spend) but one where you could basically buy whatever high street pushchair you wanted, what would you pick? Is it one you've used before or just one you think looks good? Would you recommend any? Any you'd totally avoid based on experience?

Around 12 years ago I had a Quinny Buzz and loved it. We're considering trying again and I was thinking about those initial big purchases.

I have a babyzen yoyo and love it. It's compact but not flimsy and perfect for public transport.

Fridaysgirl17 · 17/04/2023 19:17

The uppa baby vista, I love it,easy fold, big basket, bassinet is great, & can get adapters for car seats. I worked in a baby store & it was always my favourite but I couldn't afford it when I had my baby I got the quinny in a limited edition colour as I got a discount so made it really affordable

Thanks!

Mothercare was the go-to but I think that went bust. Does anyone know where you can go nowadays to try all these in person?

I had the Quincy it was awful, I was forever inflating the tyres, eventually it snapped and although only a few months old they refused to repair/ replace. I ended up buying a sturdy umbrella folding pushchair.
If money was no object I would have a silver cross balmoral. Classic beautiful design but out of my price range.

SugarCraving · 17/04/2023 19:24

Quinny not Quincy

Oh see what's different to my experience, I loved mine!

The Balmoral is very vintage looking, not sure I could cope with the attention pushing it around! Are there many umbrella folding pushchairs that are suitable from birth?

John Lewis?

BertieBotts · 17/04/2023 19:30

I think the uppababy always seems to stand out as being the best.

I really like maxi Cosi pushchairs.

Tiredmummaoftwo · 17/04/2023 19:31

iCandy peach! If you want off-road for walking the dogs etc then an out & about

mischlerischler · 17/04/2023 19:32

I am about to have my first baby and was deciding between Uppababy vista & Nuna mexx next. Went with Nuna at the end as it's much lighter, if that wasn't a big factor for us I would have gone with uppababy!

John Lewis?

We've not got a John Lewis near us so it's not something I realised they did! I'll bear it in mind if we decide to do it all over again.

Ah I remember the iCandy! It was out of my price range the first time round haha.

Uppababy seems popular then. I don't even remember it being around when I had my daughter, wonder if it's fairly new.

I have the Nuna Mixx Next and I really love it.
There are a couple of things I wish were slightly better on it:

  1. I find the straps hard to adjust and the pads don't stay in place as the strap material is kind of silky.
  2. Personally, I think it is heavy but can't compare to others.
  3. It takes up the whole boot and we have an SUV.

Otherwise, it's a dream to use and I'm really happy with it. Also the material inside the bassinet is so soft and cosy - just what you want for your newborn.

LightSwitch20 · 17/04/2023 19:59

Did not get on with uppababy vista at all - it’s huge (annoying in shops and cafes) and very heavy to get in and out the car. Much prefer the Babyzen yoyo. Unless you genuinely need all terrain or a huge basket then I would get a compact pram.

Pinkywoo · 17/04/2023 20:09

I have a Joolz Day and love it, it was my friends so is now on its fourth baby and still great. It's quite heavy but very stable and solid feeling because of it, and good off road or round shops etc.

Kellywilldo · 17/04/2023 20:14

I have the oyster 3.. I do love it but my only criticism is it’s heavy lifting in and out of the car

popopop · 17/04/2023 20:19

Absolutely love our silver cross. Single handedly the best baby purchase we have made.

AHelpfulHand · 17/04/2023 20:21

I like Stokke ones

BertieBotts · 17/04/2023 20:23

If you go to the website of any old baby brand and look for stockists often you'll find there is a pram centre somewhere in a warehouse in a field or industrial estate where you'd never find it. Those places can be brilliant as they often have staff who are really passionate about things like prams and car seats and can tell you every little thing about them.

There used to be one just outside Rugby called the Baby Barn, I got my first pram there and it was great.

Another vote for Uppababy Vista

@tweener I think there are umbrella folding pushchairs suitable from birth. I am positive mclaren was a make. However my Quinny gave up after 8 months.

dindot · 17/04/2023 20:28

Uppababy Vista here too. Absolutely love mine.

goldielockss · 17/04/2023 20:34

I have had a few different ones but I personally like the out n about nipper for walks and anything off-road, but the mamas and papas flip 2xt (though there are newer ones that are probably a bit nicer) for town/general stuff. The mamas and papas one is SO much smaller in the boot than my old icandy peach was and I like that you can fold it down in one. I'm not going to bother using an umbrella fold one with my toddler because it would be bigger in the boot than the M&P one we have. I managed to get it for like £15 off marketplace but obviously if money was no object I would buy new (though it is fun getting bargains like that!)
