Have you started putting suncream on your kids so far this year?

Just wondering what the norm is for putting suncream on kids in our miserable up-and-down UK weather. Do you just see the sun is out on a particular day and put some on? And would you do this year-round? Or do you put it on routinely every morning between certain months of the year? Or check the UV index? Or take some out and put it on if the sun feels a bit intense?

It was sunny and chilly where we live today for the first time in ages, did anyone put any on today in the same situation?

I’m not sure it should be this complicated but it is something I find a bit stressful, can anyone humour me and help me decide on a rule of thumb please?

Yesterday and I’m glad I did as I neglected my arms and they burnt. NE Scotland if anyone cares.

My children have been wearing sunhats a few times in the last couple of weeks, but they've got hardly any exposed skin as it's not warm enough for short sleeves/ shorts yet, and the hats shade their faces pretty well. So I haven't put any cream on yet, but I probably would if they didn't have hats (I forgot a hat for myself on a walk, and did catch the sun a bit).

It's done nothing but piss it down so no I have not!

Ds1 is like Casper though so will be covered from Tuesday as his summer uniform is shorts.

Ds2 is an actual surfer dude who tans at the first hint of sun so even with thr suncream he'll be walking about like he's just stepped off bondi beach!

It hasn't been needed here this year so far.
It's been so wet that I have had to remove toadstools from my lawn.

Yes but I’ve ensured they r having plenty of foods with vitamin D.

It's virtually impossible to get your vitamin D requirements through diet alone....

Not even thought about it yet as it's been grim here

Not quite yet but we keep DD covered up. She was in a fleece and wellies today so not that warm here yet.

Nursery usually mention it from May onwards and I am careful with it as soon as short sleeves make an appearance.

We only holiday in Scotland so have never needed any!

No. Dd16 is very pale and has been out most of the day riding her horse. She's not worn sunscreen yet this year.

Sorry was a bit lighthearted.. Absolutely love Scotland and actually got back from Mull last night! Trying to find a summer residence this year so may need to invest in sunscreen!
