I’ve just sat and read a few AMA posts so thought I’d join in.

Mum of 5 kids aged 8,6,4,2 and 3 months, which I appreciate is bigger than average so AMA.

Did you plan to have so many?

Are you planning to have more?

How do you support them financially?

Do you feel you are capable of giving each child enough attention?

usernamechanged1 · 15/04/2023 16:38

What is your house like? I’m forever cleaning up after one toddler, so I can’t imagine five young ones around!

Mummy2mybear · 15/04/2023 16:49

Did you or will you be returning to work how do you support them ?

Do your children get to do extra curricular activities such as swimming lessons or is it a logistical nightmare?

Squamata · 15/04/2023 16:55

Do they all have the same dad?

If you have a sickness bug, is it better one after another or all at the same time to get it done with?

How do you find meals they'll all eat?

TheDuchessOfMN · 15/04/2023 17:41

Do you work outside the home?

Do you get a lot of help from family?

TinyTeacher · 15/04/2023 17:46

How have the children responded when you tell them about another new arrival?

(Considering how to tell my eldest that we're expecting another - she's 6 and we have twin 2 year olds, So this will be number 4 and I think surprising to her)

What car do you drive?

I have 3 and I’m looking to move close to my sister who is also a single mother of 3.

Bitterestpil · 15/04/2023 18:45

Too busy with her kids to respond 🤣

TomatoSandwiches · 15/04/2023 18:46

How many siblings did you grow up with?

We planned then all. I didn’t always want a big family though- I had my eldest then realised how much I loved doing the “mum” thing.

I would love more but I found the last pregnancy more tiring than the rest (35 now so I think that’s part of it).

we both work to support our family financially.

I do feel everyone gets plenty of attention. They are all young enough that we can do lots together as a family but also have certain things we do for one on one time. We do wee “dates” for want of a better word with them one to one- this can range from a trip to the cinema to an overnight somewhere. We also make sure everyone gets an individual bedtime story and that always gives them a wee bit extra time just us and them.

The house is generally in a state that we would need a 15 minute run around if anyone was to announce they were visiting 😂😂 clean and tidy-ish but always toys or books or something lying out. And always laundry waiting to get put away 😂

It can be a bit of a pain but we are very lucky in that the school does a lot of clubs that start at school finish time so I can just get the kids a wee bit later- Italian, Lego & Library club. The school age ones also attend drama one night a week. Little ones aren’t into anything yet but I do take my 2 year old and the baby to bookbug and toddler group.

How many bedrooms does your house have? What jobs do you and DH have? Are you planning more?

Yes they are all to my husband.

all at once is better with illness but it seldom happens like that. Instead we have a week or so where they drop like flies and I wait for it to come for me. I’m always last once the rest as well again and full of energy.

we have some safe meals that we all eat and if it’s something that isn’t a crowd pleaser I’ll make an alternative for the ones who don’t like it.

A lady who works at my kids’ school has 5 kids inc 2 sets of twins. She always looks sooooooo calm and serene and the kids are so well behaved. What’s her secret? 😄

Yes we are both nurses. I’m part time and he is full time.

We don’t get any help with childcare. We work opposites so someone is always here. But I’m lucky in that my sister is great and takes the kids out swimming and stuff a few times a month.

During lockdown did you find it was nice for your children to have each other? Did they fare better than other children with only one sibling or none at all do you think?

sazzt · 15/04/2023 19:47

How do you both hold down jobs with 5 kids when they get sick? Only one toddler here and a bad autumn/winter sickness season has seen both of us have a ridiculous unavoidable amount of time off for childcare😬

They are always over the moon. They love it every time a baby arrives- they instantly become the baby of the family.

I have a Dacia Jogger and it seats 7. Highly recommend it!

Has anybody in real life ever told you that you were irresponsible and should have thought of the environment before having so many DC?
This seems to be a prevalent view in MN.
Not one that I hold BTW. In this country I think we are sleepwalking in to a massive population issue when we are all elderly with not enough economically active in the generations following us to support the economy/country.
