Yoto Player for a 3 year old...

...anyone have one for a child this young?

I've been thinking it might be a handy thing to have my toddler have some relaxed wind down time in bed at night whilst I feed and settle her younger sibling down to bed for the night.

All kids will be different but those who have them for children this age, do you find they are interested enough to sit reasonably quietly listening to them?

We got a yoto player for DS 4th birthday and before that audio books at bedtime on Spotify which he loved. They're great for listening to in bed while he drifts off or while he's playing. I'd go for a mini and headphones so it can be used in the car. Definitely been a good purchase! I know others who have had the Tonie box from younger which has also worked really well.

Great - thanks! How sturdy are the cards? I feel like DD would want to stuff them in bags & the like & wreck them

Got ours for DD 3rd birthday, took a little while for her to choose it herself / use controls but from day 1 has loved laying in bed listening. She's almost 6 and still has it on nightly. I actually feel the original is better for this as she loves to look at the light up display for each chapter and lays in bed looking. We also have a mini and it's good for car journeys and visiting grandparents but she prefers the bigger original

My almost 3 year old loves hers - she can choose the cards and put them in and loves listening to them before bed. Zog is a favourite in our house! I choose the Yoto as I thought it would have more longevity than the Tonie one so hopefully she’ll listen for years to come!

They're just like credit cards, so could be snapped but would need some force. We got a wallet to keep them in. If you do lose one, as long as you have the content synched with your yoto app, you could actually just add it back onto a blank card.

DS has had a Tonie since he was 2, he’s now 5.5. He listens to it every night as he falls asleep and sometimes in the day. I looked at Yotos for Xmas (kids now 5&7) as I think they have more scope for older kids. So I say go for the Yoto.

My older DC had a Yoto and my younger DC was really into it (despite being only 1) so we gave her one for her second birthday. I say go for it. To begin with, most younger ones prefer music so just get a couple of cards with nursery rhymes and favourite songs. The Julia Donaldson cards have been a hit with my youngest too, and they have a song at the end.

If you decide to go for it, this is my referral code which gets you 10% off. LL-S80UBD5N

Got one for my 2 yr old a few months ago - cards are sturdy and you can get a little pouch / carrier to put them in. He's not that into it yet although he likes choosing the cards, but I put a story on after I've read him a book to fall asleep to. Playing the long game, as hopefully I can use it to fall asleep to as night / keep him in bed longer in the mornings when he's a bit older. Nightlight is also really useful

My son got one for his 3rd birthday. He listens to it still every night at bedtime. Great present imo

Craftyrose · 27/04/2023 18:03

A Yoto is a great idea! We have an original and a mini. We got ours when my daughter was 6 but wish we had had it from birth really! I love that you can control it remotely. The cards are sturdy and there is a good range. I also love the option to make your own with other digital content. For us, the original gets way more use than the mini as it stays on the charger so is always ready to go! I would go for it!

DS got his for his third birthday, uses it every night and we use the app in the car on longer journeys to pay stories through the stereo. We read him a story lights out and he gets the yoto for 15-20 minutes, he is 4 now and also likes the podcast when he's in the bath! We even take it on holiday

pyjamalife · 27/04/2023 19:09

1 YO, May have been young but was a present. 3 should be perfect age!

whatthebejesus · 27/04/2023 19:18

Yes. We got them for our kids when they were 2&1. They've loved them and listened to them every day and they're 5&6 now
