When potty training works ... what do I do with all these nappies?

WE have been lucky and our youngest has been reasonably quick to cotton on to potty training. (I know we have been lucky because two of the other 4 were very difficult) .

When we bought our nappies, second hand ones were fairly flying off ebay and the classifieds pages. I have had a bit of a lukewarm response to mine and they are in really good condition. Can anyone suggest anywhere else to advertise them now ebay doesnt allow it?

I have advertised them on here, locally etc but it seems as if people want you to give them away now. Obviously the market peaked when I was buying mine .

Any suggestions? Has anyone else had difficulty with advertising them?

What's that about eBay alyson? Are you not allowed to sell second hand nappies on there now??

BigBadMouse · 14/02/2008 20:41

No, it has been their policy for many months now - no second hand cloth nappies. They now consider it to be the same as used underwear.

Have a look and you'll find some on there but they all get removed within 24 hours of the listing ending. Don't you just love eBay?

Ebay is so ridiculous, your washing them so where is the problem?? And it is better for the enviroment as they are being passed on! Bloody ebay makes me

PotPourri · 14/02/2008 21:04

Ridiculous! Thanks for these links, I really like the look of the first one! Didn't realise that about eBay.

I thought the used underwear was to do with pervs, not hygiene - surely that would be your own choice to take a chance on hygiene....?

there is a way with ebay

you can either hope for the best (if you are not a big 'dealer' in nappies, and pop them on in dribs and drabs you may not get watched by the new nappy dealers - they are the ones who report

you can give them away free when you sell something new - ie auction for 1 new tots wrap, plus you get 15 nappies for free

you can list them mentioning nothing about condition, and then if people write to ask if they are new or not you can check their feedback to see if they are a dealer or not, and if they seem genuine you can reply, but if they look suspicious dont bother. Bit sneaky, but they cant report stuff being secondhand if it doesnt say that in the listings. just dont fill in any item descriptions from the drop down menu

if not there is always clothnappyaddicts and clothnappytree as well

I have just sold a big bunch of stuff and it didnt get pulled.... I must be on the 'watch' list of some of the reporters, as previously stuff was pulled withing a few hours of listing it. hoorah!!

If trying to sell on ebay, you can also do a Buy It Now. I sold off nappies for a friend of mine and did that. We didn't charge a ton, under 4 per Motherease OneSize, so it was a really good deal, but that way they were gone in a flash. I didn't say they were used, just "gently pre-loved."

alysonpeaches · 28/02/2008 19:43

I like that aavt! Gently preloved.

I have a bit of a problem atm. Ive advertised on ebay, I did buy it now as well as auction, but they all got bids. One woman has written to me twice asking if they are used. I have ignored her for days, but she has upped her bid and written again. I have replied "It is against ebay policy to sell used nappies" and left it at that. I have looked at her feedback and she doesnt seem like a dealer, as she has bought a few motherease recently and her feeback is mainly as a buyer.

Dont really know what to do!
