Noisy baby keeping me awake all night

It's so exhausting because he's asleep through most it but the constant grunting, straining, squealing, farting is so loud and I just can't sleep through it. It's actually unbearable how tired I am. I've never known such a noisy baby it's like trying to sleep next to a bloody warthog. The school holidays are just finishing me off as I'm getting no break to catch up on missed nights sleep as my 4yo is with me all the time. I feel like I'm on the edge. When does this pass? He's 11 weeks

I had the same with my dd when she was a baby, I'd no idea they were so noisy!
I put her in her own room when she was about 3 months .

I couldn’t bear it either, earplugs helped a bit. Mine went into their own room early too, much better for everyone.

I resulted to ear plugs, it meant I could hear when they cried but I wasn’t disturbed by the little noises and movements !

Oh yes, I remember this phase. I don't think it's lasts long, me and DH used to say DC sounded like the exorcist or a zombie from The Walking Dead

TomatoSandwiches · 10/04/2023 04:57

Get a fan or white noise machine, I found them very helpful.

Another one who used earplugs! And we.moved him into his own room at 12 weeks. I know it's not recommended but I needed some sleep.

Own rooms from the get go.

My DD sounded like a dinosaur, I remember it was for a few weeks and passed after a time, having a white noise machine in the room helps dull the noise

Was going to say the same thing! Earplugs worked well for me as my baby sounded like a warthog all night too. If it helps OP the noisy nighttime grunts only lasted a few weeks, they won't be noisy forever I think it's a newborn thing

whatchagonnado · 12/04/2023 06:02

You need to move him to his own room - keep the door open so you'll still hear the cries but not the snuffles, farts etc
You'll feel much better and able to deal with him if you're more rested, although it's always really difficult at that age

Hatscats · 12/04/2023 06:09

Those saying move to their own room - there’s a SIDS risk to be aware of which is why it’s 6 month minimum (ideally 12!).

From basis - A large study looking at SIDS cases in 20 locations across Europe estimated that 36% of SIDS deaths could have been prevented if the baby had slept in a cot in the same room as the parents.

the noises get better once their digestion matures - around 4/5 months I found!

Has baby always been noisy @drapingivy ? Could they be congested/ unwell?

so sorry you’re struggling. Does your older one have a friend they can go to for an hour or two so you can rest/ nap?
