Hey mums! Looking for some advice please. My 14 month old daughter hates her cot and will not sleep or settle in it at all! We have put it on lower setting as she gets so upset and tries to climb out. So we end up having to get her out and rock her in our arms to sleep but tonight we soon realised when she crawled out of my arms and tucked herself into our bed and fell asleep on her own. (it was pretty cute to see) But me and my hubby now want our bed back as we just are not getting any sleep and we sleep whole night in our bed with or without us... please help!! we are thinking floor bed for her own room once it's ready.. any tips or tricks? (our bed is 2.5ft tall so we can't leave her alone in the bed)

p.s her cot is still in our room due to renovations happening in her new room.

I was once advised by a sleep consultant on this to put the cot mattress on the floor and cuddle her to sleep. Slowly over time the idea is you then move the cot mattress back into the cot. Either that or I would suggest you put your own mattress on the floor, perhaps with her cot mattress next to yours, so she feels close to you but still gets used to her own mattress and space. It might not be practical depending on how much floor space you have etc but in your circumstances I’d say that’s your best bet. Plus moving her into her own room as soon as you’re able! Good luck, I know it’s so exhausting when they don’t settle at night.

Has she always done this or did it begin recently? Just wondered if it was linked to the renovations or something has made her feel unsettled

My ds is the same, we made his cot into a sidecar style and he usually will manage to stay in there for up to half a night. I can lay beside him and just roll away, not the best scenario but better than in our bed all night every night

Yes we did try this and it's worked for abit but she just crawled into our bed. We are not sure if she finds her mattress too hard and not comfy as she sleeps on our sofa and our bed like a dream?! Thank you for helping :)

She has always done it but seems to be getting worse so we want to try and cue to before it gets much worse.

By the third child with this problem I gave up, double mattress on the floor with single mattress next to it....all got some sleep. I confess to eventually putting his bed next to his brother's and he crawled in with him. Didn't appear to wake him up or bother him, they grow out of it eventually but some children just seem to need more body contact than others. 😍

ok thank you, we feel like getting to that stage as she sleeps all night in our bed but me and my hubby don't have space with her in bed so our sleep is disturbed loads.
