Have you taken your child’s footmuff off of the buggy yet?

Seems like a bit of a silly question to ask Mumsnet but hey, I guess what this is for!

Just wondered if your footmuff is still on your child’s buggy or have you taken it off yet? We have one of those warm lined footmuffs for both kids (double buggy) which we used since winter.

I’ve changed their coats to lighter jackets suitable for Spring and was just thinking whether the footmuff should come off now too? We can always use a blanket for the kids if it’s cold I guess. What have others done? We’re in SW London btw so the weather has been mild

Ages ago! We use a nice thick blanket for when he's sitting, but he usually walks so he keeps a bit warmer than babies

@DragonbornMum thank you for responding!

My son is 11 months and can’t walk so spends all his time in the buggy however DD is nearly two and walks sometimes. I think I’ll take the footmuff off and just use a blanket like you’ve said! Thanks:)

Second winter in the buggy for DD. We took it off on April 1st as it was driving me mad slipping down and making it take longer to get her in and out of the buggy. Then the first time using it without needed a blanket. It came off in mid April last year.

No, it's still freezing in the shade!

Haha same!! It’s so flipping annoying when it slides down each time you put them in. I don’t have anymore patience tbh.

They’ll be fine with a blanket😬

True! They have warm jackets so I think they’ll be alright with a blanket

Not yet. I’m in London too. We’ve got a Vista and a Cozy Ganoush footmuff which is basically fine for the arctic. I just pop DD (9 months) in there with a hat and no coat. Seems fine and she hates coats 😂 so it’s much easier! Any more than a couple of layers and she gets prickly heat! Will probably take it off the buggy in the next few weeks though when I’m sure it’s really spring. I don’t trust April’s weather 🤔 and it’ll piss me off to have to put it back on. 😂

Asking myself the same thing. Today was quite chilly but my 11 month daughter just kicks the footmuff down till her legs are on top of it anyway. And it’s soo annoying getting her in the pram when it slides down every time.
I have one of those lamb skin liners which I can put on and if she’s really cold I can put a blanket over her (although I know already that won’t last long)
Such a predicament 😂

BlackBarbies · 06/04/2023 21:12

Haha it really is a predicament isn’t it?!

Today was chilly! I had my 11 month old in the buggy and because I’ve already taken the footmuff off, he literally kicks the blanket off until it’s nearly falling on the floor🫠

DD just straight up picks the blanket up and hands it back to us😂 who knew this would be such a dilemma?! They’re too hot in the footmuff but don’t want the blanket on to keep warm

Honestly there are so many things that you don’t even realise will be a predicament with baby stuff 😂

I think I’ll leave the footmuff on another week or so as it’s due to rain all next week. Hopefully after that will be warm enough to go without!

Eatentoomanyroses · 06/04/2023 21:41

No. We’re in Lancashire and it’s bloody freezing still and was pouring with rain yesterday

NuffSaidSam · 06/04/2023 21:44

It's still on here, but ours doesn't slip down so it's not annoying.

Toddler sits on top of it if she's too warm, but good to have the option to get into if she's cold. Also, she hates the rain cover so the foot muff acts as a rain cover unless it's absolutely chucking it down.

I find blankets a million times worse tbh, always falling/being kicked off, getting lost/forgotten, wet if it rains etc.

WeWereInParis · 06/04/2023 21:54

I never bought one - is that bad? DD2 is 11 months and we just use blankets, and the rain cover if rainy.

Nat6999 · 06/04/2023 22:28

Is yours one where you can zip the front completely off & leave the base in the pram? I used to do that & put the top rolled up in the basket? I left the base on all year round as it was very soft & comfortable, especially when ds was small & napped in the pram.

Good shout! I’m seriously considering putting the foot muff back on as it’s too cold for the kids to not have a blanket on or anything else. What a bloody nightmare😂 it’s such a faff to put back on too. I cba!

Nothing wrong with never having a foot muff!

The way ours is, the kids can’t sit on top of it. They have to be zipped up completely. The thing is, in the sun the kids are quite warm. But now that it’s raining for the majority of the days, maybe I should just put it back on.

I promise I have bigger problems in life but it’s good to hear what everyone else has been doing😬
