Distance learners ~ Am I missing out on any money?

I am self funding my masters degree. I am doing it vua distance learning so do not attend an institution on a regular basis (just once a year for a study school)

Am I entitled to any money from anywhere?

I put my dd in nursery 10 hours per week to allow me to study? Can I claim anything for child care against tax credits or anywhere else?

I seemt oremember a long time ago, that people could claim back 25% of their course fees (the tax part???)if they were not working and doing an eveing class. I can find no information about this now. Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, Im fairly sure that you cant calim as a distanece learner? I have a friend doing OU at the moment and I know she gets no help. To claim childare from tax credits you need to be doing 16 hours at work plus. Unfortunately studying wont class as work. There is an aim higher website and they may help. Any chance that you could arrange sponsership for your masters? Is it work related?

Thanks for responses so far. I didn't think I was entitled to anything - especially for childcare, since it is a distance learning course and theoretically I should be able to study whilst my children are in bed.
