Moving to formula

My DC is 3 months and I want to move to combi feeding with a view to getting her completely onto formula over the course of a couple of months before she starts nursery.

In the meantime, I’d like to be able to Bf at night - she takes several attempts to get down over the course of a couple of hours which often means multiple feeds as part of the change feed settle routine and I’m too lazy to keep making up bottles in the night.

I’d like to feed formula in the day.

Does anyone know if this is possible or would it cause engorgement in the day / not enough supply in the night?

Thank you.

I did exactly the opposite. I breastfeed during a day and gave formula at night (mostly becouse my milk never filled up my daughter enough but she slept much better with formula). After I just dropped the breastfeeding during the day and went on formula complitely with no issues.
I did express to make sure my milk wasn't going away before bed and in the morning.
It is definitely possible to do it, but not sure if it's possible without expressing. I guess it's depends on your milk supply, which I struggled from the beginning.

The advice i was given when weaning was to drop a feed every three days to stop engorgement and to let your body get used to not feeding. So if she usually has a feed around 10am start giving her a bottle at that time instead and do that for 3 days, then move onto the next feed you want to drop.

Second this, but if you are not in too much of a rush leave it a week/10 days in between dropping feeds. This is how I've weaned my first 2 and I've never been engorged , good luck 💓

I did mostly what you're proposing and it worked well my boobs adjusted and only felt mildly engorged at the beginning. dh would do the first half of the night and give formula, then I would take over and offer breast, she tended to sleep after bedtime feed till about 1, then formula from daddy then boob from me at 4/5. Stopped wanting/needing a night feed about 7/8 months

Your supply will regulate but you need to do it gradually - swap over a daytime feed every few days, don't just go whole hog and go fully formula all day from day one.
