14 month with food intolerance

Help! My DS has been dairy intolerant since he was 8 months which caused him to be sick all the time. He's been dairy free ever since and has been fine but for the last 3 weeks has started being sick again randomly and constant diarrhoea!
I'm assuming it's another food intolerance but I don't know what and I don't even know where to start!
Anyone had the same or any advice?

What do you feed him?

My daughter had an egg allergy when she was younger and that gave her upset tummy, but hives also. She grew out of it.

Wheat is also a common one. Try cutting different things out each week and see what happens.

Is this your diagnosis? Or have you sought medical view?

No, after the first episode of vomiting we were referred to the allergy nurse and taking dairy out of his diet done the trick. He goes to nursery so eats a wide variety of food so it could be anything, we've sent a stool sample off and if that comes back clear then nurse has suggested to cut wheat out. So strange how it's suddenly come on though. I'm so anxious now with what to feed him and feel terrible for him with the stomach cramps he is getting.
Does anyone know if there is an intolerance test he can have done?

Does he have soya milk? I think around 50% of kids who have a CMPA also don't tolerate soya, so could be worth swapping. Our allergy doctor said that oatly barista milk is the most nutritious. That's what our baby has with his cereal x

The home intolerance tests tend to be unreliable so I'd ask for some proper skin prick testing through the allergy clinic although they will only pick up IgE allergies rather than non IgE allergies or intolerances so the only way is an elimination diet x

Sending solidarity OP. Allergies and intolerances and the uncertainty and trying to identify patterns is so difficult x

He does have soya and funny you say that as I have a feeling it's his bottle upsetting his tummy as most of the stomach aches and diarrhoea are during the night after his bottle! I may have to try changing it!
Thank you for your advice and kind words x

Agh @kadh that would be great as soya is so easy to cut out especially compared to wheat etc!! I'd try the oat milk and see how he gets on ❤️ x soya is also hidden in afew other bits as I've discovered including bread!!!! Gluten free bread doesn't seem to have soya and neither does bagels or pittas x

A nurse has suggested you “cut out” dairy and wheat

Villssev · 01/04/2023 15:41

That seems very extreme with a baby

@newtolineofduty thank you ❤️
