5 month old not taking as much formula as usual

Hi all,
DS is 5m old and formula fed. He's not on solids yet. Previously, he was taking 30-33 oz per day quite happily. For the last few days, however, we're struggling to get him to take his feeds and he just doesn't seem hungry. His first and last feed of the day are usually 2-4oz so he needs bigger ones in the day to bump him up but now he's only having 4-5oz in his daytime feeds, meaning he's only getting 25-28oz instead of his usual.
He is having lots of wet nappies and poos twice per day. He's gained weight well up to now. He is alert, happy and chatty and doesn't seem ill. He's still sleeping through the night. It's just that he doesn't seem very hungry. He's smiley when refusing a feed so doesn't seem distressed or in pain from it or like he's struggling, he genuinely just doesn't seem hungry anymore. I was told in Feb that he has laryngomalacia but it doesn't seem to be down to that as he can take several oz at once without stopping.
I asked my HV who said he seems fine and to just keep an eye as he has no sign of any problems. I struggle with PN anxiety about DS' health anyway so this isn't helping. Can anyone share similar experiences please?

Sometimes babies just aren’t as hungry or they might have a bit of a cold or sore throat coming on. Maybe teething too… so many things it could be. I’d just do as your HV suggests and keep an eye on it. If baby is happy in themselves, has wet nappies, normal temperature etc then don’t worry too much about it. Baby will eat when they are hungry and may just be keen to start tasting food.

I know what you mean, though, about anxiety over health. I get this too. DD1 has another virus from school and I am already worrying about DS2 (9 months old) picking it up. I have to remind myself to take each moment as it comes and stop worrying about what might be. If they are happy in themselves, they are fine xxx

Mine was like this just before teething started.

Agree with teething. Dd went off everything for a week or so before her teeth cut. Keep an eye on wet/dirty nappies and if he’s bright and happy in himself then I wouldn’t worry too much. Obviously if anything changes give your gp a call for a check up.

Again, possibly teething. It seems like he's taking an ok amount but I know how stressful it can be when they don't eat enough

@HappyHolidays22 @Ostryga @SausageMonkey2 @theotherfossilsister Thanks everyone. Will keep an eye out for teething. My eldest never went off his milk at all and was always like clockwork so having a baby now who can take or leave it with his milk is something I find more difficult. Husband just pointed out he also did this when he was ready for a bigger teat at 3m so we might give the next teat size a go and see if it helps. If not, will move back down again. He's taken 21.5oz so far today with 2 feeds to go so fingers crossed.
