always used to want 4 kids. had a section with first 2 so now limited to 3 as 4 seems too dangerous. now that i’ve got the 2 i feel like waiting to have the third would be kind of unfair on them? like they’d have two siblings with a big age gap and they’d be on their own? so i’m considering trying for a third in about a year. my 2 are currently 2yo and 3mo so would be a similar age gap again.

is this an awful idea? is 3 an always outnumbered in a bad way situation, or is it not as bad as people make out to have an odd number?

I stuck at 2, but friends that had 3, always complained about needing a bigger car to fit in 3 car seats, that most meals, days out were set up for two adults two children etc so obviously more expensive, but all kids are! Good luck with your decision OP.

I have a 5yo, 3yo and 1yo. It's absolutely fine so far! I enjoy the gaps. It's a bit chaotic with a newborn, toddler and older dc but you very quickly get into a routine. If you want 3 then go for it; obviously if 2 feels right then stick with that! I always wanted 3 and am glad I went for it.

I was one of three and sort of hated it for the reason you suggest, always someone left out, always two ganging up on one. Someone always sat separate in roller coasters, no room in car, can't get a hotel
Room to fit on the rare occasion we could afford a holiday. As it happens when my DM was divorced she remarried a guy with 3 sons so we all became one of
6 which was way better Grin

i have 3 with a small age gap. It’s fine, we planned this from the off, so our car always was big enough. Best thing about a small gap is they can play all together and share interests and life experiences together. Yes they occasionally fall out as most siblings do. I find that two may play something and one does there own thing and this is not an issue as it might be with one or two children who might get bored of having no one to play with.

We stopped at 3 because we couldn't afford a bigger car 🤣

There was a very small gap between eldest and middle, then a longer gap before third.

They are so different from each other despite being same sex and used to bicker like crazy when they were little. I love the dynamics between them nowadays and just marvel how bloomin' brilliant they are.

I would have loved more, but stopping when we did enabled me to have a career and a moment or two to myself at times. I was never one to expect eldest to help with siblings on principle and I think I might have blown a fuse or something if I'd had more.

I have 3 and I love it. The biggest issue was the car needed to be charged and it's a nightmare booking hotel rooms. Other then that she slotted right in and it was very easy going from two to three

I had 3 for 3 years and loved it. I had my 4th csection this year and it wasn’t considered high risk at all so if that’s the only thing stopping you having 4 then don’t let it.

My DH is one of 3 and he had a brilliant childhood. They’re all close, nobody was left out as a child in any of their memories.

I always wanted 3 kids but we’ve stopped at 2. They are 5 years and 3 years old.
dare I say they are amazing kids and my life is pretty easy as far as having 2 young kids go.
I feel a third would tip me/us over the edge.
also finically….. I’d rather be able to spoil the 2 I’ve got. Take them on nice days out, holidays etc. whereas a third would stretch us
