Eyelid surgery for toddler

My toddler has very odd shaped eyelids, which have caused several people (including children) to ask if she has special needs. They make her eyes appear quite droopy. I have searched things like this and ptosis often comes up but the lids don't cover the iris, so as it's not affecting her sight, I don't think she'd be able to have surgery on that basis. I wondered from experience if anyone knows whether surgery can be performed on a toddler or child if it isn't directly implicating something like sight? I am just worried for her that she will continue to get more negative comments as she grows up, starts school etc. because she does look very different to all of her friends (it's not bothered me too much but I have always been conscious of them). Thank you.

What does her doctor say?
There is a genetic condition with causes droopy eyelids - I forget the name of it. Has she been diagnosed with that?
You probably need a doctors consultant- not with the GP but a specialist. Ask for a referral.

Speak to an optician, my son had one eyelid slightly more closed than the other that was more noticeable when he was tired. The optician said to see how it went as he grew and if it got worse they could refer us, however he grew out of it and I’m glad we didn’t t do anything.

My ds had surgery (twice!) for ptosis on the NHS despite his eyesight not being affected. What makes you think yours couldn't have it done on the NHS?

Of course nobody will operate on a toddler’s eyelids if there is nothing medically wrong with them. Do you mean epicanthal folds? They can give the appearance of a squint but mostly will disappear as the child gets older.

If the eyelids don't open properly they DO operate Hmm Or maybe I imagine my child's surgeries...
