Water bottles

Hello. I know this sort of question has been asked many times but most people have a dishwasher.

Can anyone recommend any water bottles for my two year old that don't get moody please?

I've tried weighed straw etc but they all seem to eventually get mouldy despite my obsessive cleaning!

He's gradually getting used to an open cup but not there yet.

I sucked his bottle this morning (don't ask) and it tasted gross!! It's like the tiny holes can't be cleaned Blush

I have yet to find a water bottle which doesn’t leak AND can go in the dishwasher. My oldest is nearly 7 yrs old.

Could you use an open cup with a reusable straw? I find that setup easier to clean than the all in one type bottles. Otherwise you could get a baby bottle brush and hand wash them.

Soaking all bottles in Milton overnight twice a week solves the problem for us. My DS won't drink water and so takes weak squash to school in his water bottle and it starts smelling like rotten egg if it isn't sterilised regularly 🤢

The camelbak ones. You can replace the spout if they bite through it too. Every other kid at preschool has one though which is annoying because half the time he comes home with the wrong one.

And we do have a dishwasher but plenty handwashing goes on too (on holiday, when we’re down to 1 bottle on rotation because of the nursery issue) and they’re always fine.

We have the ion8 bottles at work (think they were bought from tkmaxx), they've been going to and from nursery and school for a year and been washed in a dishwasher and they are still going strong, no leaks and no fiddly parts to go mouldy.

Contigo bottles are good, and much cheaper at Costco

I don't put water bottles in the dishwasher!
Soak in Milton solution overnight occasionally is the method here.

We use Sigg for both us and the kids, it's a swiss made traditional aluminium water bottle.

Second the Camelbak ones. We now have two for DD having previously had a cupboard full of various other brands. Labelled up for school and they don't go mouldy, get flung in the dishway and DO NOT LEAK.

kleen kanteen - dishwasher safe and never had mould on them.

Hi all. Thanks so much for the tips.

Sorry for the typos, meant mouldy not moody. Says it all!

I assumed it was because I didn't put them in a dishwasher but that mustn't be the case.

Will look into some new ones and sterilise them too.

My kid pestered me for weeks about an Air Up bottle. Finally caved after seeing that a bunch of his school friends have them. Anyway, they gave me a 20% discount code to share and I love a good discount so here ya go.

Get 20% off at air up

I recently used air up and they gave me a special offer to share with my friends. I’m treating you to an exclusive 20% off your first order. I’ll also get a reward, so it’s a win-win!

After years of trying out so many water bottles and then going manky / breaking in the dishwasher I can recommend ...

ion8 and camelbak

These ones have been fantastic and are lasting and washing really well
