Just bits of whatever you're having is easiest. Make sure there's no salt added. And no honey.

Mine started on some slightly overcooked carrot and broccoli then bits of chicken, potato, other vegetables. Scrambled egg, porridge, tuna. Just easy to pick up stuff. Risotto was always popular. And banana.

Tons of it goes on the floor. It was quite a frustrating time. I was in no hurry with DC1 and even less so than DC2.

How would you give the carrot ? Like how would I chop it so it's safe, is it fingers ?

Yes, just in strips so she can grip it. Toast and banana are handy for that too.

Depends on your preference. If you want to do baby led then little sticks they can hold or you can puree/mash it and spoon feed.

I have been giving her puréed for a couple of weeks so would like to give her food I can just put on her tray now aswell

@davegrohll if you're not yet all clued up about how to serve different foods to your baby, definitely download the free Solid Starts app.

It depicts and explains exactly how to cook and serve almost all foods.

Also inform yourself on gagging versus choking and obviously what exactly to do in a real choking situation!

davegrohll · 26/03/2023 07:38

@Batbatbatty oh thanks I'll download it now

It says bread has dairy in is this correct ? Does she need a special bread ?

OP posts:
Batbatbatty · 26/03/2023 07:45

Look at the ingredients on your own bread at home.

Batbatbatty · 26/03/2023 07:46

Sorry, pressed send too quickly.

If she's dairy free then you'll have to check ingredients on anything ready made before you give it to her.

davegrohll · 26/03/2023 07:47

@Batbatbatty thanks yeah I will. All new to me this is sorry for all the questions ! Really didn't realise bread could have dairy in too

I follow a mum on TikTok, her page is called Moon and Rue. Her little one is over a year now but if you scroll back to the start of her page, she has posted from the start of weaning her baby. I loved it for recipe ideas. If you're totally stuck, it's not a bad place to start just to see how things are served and portion sizes.
