Hi first post here, I have a 4 month old baby and recently I had to go into hospital myself for a respiratory virus, I was in for 4 days and hospital could only
provide me with a breast pump for 2 times between seperatevwards I was moved too, my mother brought my own pump and when sterilising after one use the part that creates a vacuum was washed down the drain 🤦🏻‍♀️ so all in all in the 4 days there I only got to pump 3 times

since being home with my little boy again on Thursday night (23 March) I’m not getting any milk production back in my breasts, the whole time I was in hospital they were so sore all the time and hard and now I’ve been home and fed my son the once the milk just hasn’t come back and I’m worried I won’t be able to continue breast feeding him

any help and guidance on what I can do will be greatly appreciated

Keep pumping. Every hour in the hour. It might take a while but it might come back xx so sorry, can totally understand how upsetting this is x

I will give it a try at first thought it was down to stress of being in hospital and away from him so long but after the whole day passed I thought something was amiss xx

Strip off and do skin to skin with baby as much as possible as well as putting baby to boob as much as you can. Every time baby wakes put to the boob. If baby sleeps longer than two hours then pump. You will be ok in a few days. You need to tell you boobs to make more milk as it's all supply and demand. I hope you're feeling better physically.

My milk completely dried up after pumping and dumping for 2 days on medication and I managed to get it back so it’s definitely possible. As pps have said, do lots of skin to skin and put baby on the breast as much as possible - every hour/2 hours if you can. Eat in a calorie surplus including oats and drink loads of water. If baby won’t suckle then pump, I found by hand worked better but try hand and physical pump.
