To take a beach trolley around London with kids in it?

Planning a day out at the science museum on my own with DC in half term. They are 5 and 4 and we do not have a pushchair. Every time we go to London they get so tired walking around/tubes etc. can I take my beach buggy and when they've had enough I can push them around in it? It folds down and is on wheels so I can carry it when going on tubes etc. not sure if a it looks really silly and will be more faff than it's worth. Wwyd?

As long as you can manage it. Will it be too heavy to pull?

MindatWork · 24/03/2023 22:14

We were in London today with our 4 year old - Buckingham Palace, Hanleys, London Aquarium. Everywhere was absolutely heaving.

Depending on whereabouts in London you’re planning to go you’d not get anywhere trying to pull two kids in one of those.

Do you know anyone who can lend you a buggy you could put a buggy board on? Or get a cheap secondhand/free one? There are always loads going on fb

Er, no.

I really wouldn't

NewMum0305 · 24/03/2023 22:21

I get why you want to but please don’t do it. It’s too bulky for Central London and in crowded places, people may well walk into it as it’s below eye level

sequincardi · 24/03/2023 22:21

Maybe don't go until they are old enough to not get so tired?

ThisNameIsNotAvailable · 24/03/2023 22:22

That would be a total nightmare to manage and an absolute hazard to everyone else.

MrsSkylerWhite · 24/03/2023 22:23

Big, fat no if you’re planning on public transport.
Why can’t they walk?

Multiblue · 24/03/2023 22:23

On no, don't do that. You'll be in everyone's way if you try and use it and never get anywhere with it becuase they're in your way. You'll just end up with an extra thing to carry.

TomatoSandwiches · 24/03/2023 22:23

No, you need a pushchair with a buggy board, you can get ones that have attached seats as well.

Ducksurprise · 24/03/2023 22:25

No, I think it would be a nightmare, I'd wait until they were older/or do less.

But what is the buggy like on the beach? I'm tempted to buy one.

SpinningFloppa · 24/03/2023 22:26

No we went to the LTM the other day and it was packed as was everywhere outside and Covent Garden tube station was absolutely packed (couldn’t imagine pulling that around you would be in everyone’s way 🫣) my child is 5 and she walked around just fine?

MarshaBradyo · 24/03/2023 22:26

No they should be ok at that age

Public transport to museum

That looks like a big pain to carry

SoftSheen · 24/03/2023 22:26

Please don't do this! You will not be popular. At 4 and 5, why can't they walk?!

TheChosenTwo · 24/03/2023 22:26

Good god no I wouldn’t, those things are annoying enough at the best of times, I’d be raging if I fell over your kids’ wagon in the crowds! They’re totally at the wrong level -
people cart their kids about at festivals in them but there’s a bit more space to do so.
In central London there’s not so much personal space.

rattlemehearties · 24/03/2023 22:27

No! Have you ever been to London? This would be a nightmare, especially in central.

What do you think Londoners do? You can cut down on walking with little kids by getting the bus for short journeys.

You could at a push bring their little kiddie scooters if you're willing to carry them indoors/on public transport.

A pushchair with buggy board for 4 and 5 year old? Give over. Unless OP is about to dripfeed about an unmentioned disability, this is ridiculous. Walking is far more logical.

soundsystem · 24/03/2023 22:29

Sorry OP, agree with everyone else that this is not a good idea.

Just plan to do less so they're not tired? Stop for breaks, get the bus as a PP said?

WeCome1 · 24/03/2023 22:30

I think you need to scale back your expectations of what they can manage.

MissDollyMix · 24/03/2023 22:31

No! You can’t do that. Scale back plans at 4 and 5 my kids were fine with a day in London as long as we paced ourselves.

Quite a few 4/5yr olds get tired walking around big cities like London, NY, it's not that uncommon to see.

MrsSkylerWhite · 24/03/2023 22:37

“Quite a few 4/5yr olds get tired walking around big cities like London, NY, it's not that uncommon to see.”

It ought to be. No wonder so many five year olds are fat.

Grimbelina · 24/03/2023 22:39

You can't do this, it would be a nightmare for you and for others. Fold up scooters with a pull along strap if you really need it... or just lots of breaks and bus trips to break up the walking.

Suzi888 · 24/03/2023 22:39

No! Don’t do it.

“No wonder so many five year olds are fat.” @MrsSkylerWhite have a word with yourself.
