Old baby clothes

I had a baby boy a month ago who is flying through clothes so quickly that I already have a massive pile of clothes that no longer fit (his brothers old clothes). If we are fairly certain we're done having children now (80-90% sure) what should I do with all these clothes? I will hang on to the ones I'm sentimental to so they can pass on to their children one day, but would you just go ahead and sell the others already? Seems redundant to put everything in the loft when there's so much stuff?

Don't keep for them to give to their children; the styles will be 30 years out of date and they probably won't want them. Unless it's something really truly special and timeless (e.g. home made).

Keep a couple of sentimental items e.g. first outfit worn, something in the smallest size, a personalised item with a name/date or your favourite for example, for a memory box. Something I also did with some of DS2's clothes was I bought a multi-frame from Ikea and cut some of the favourite patterned vests/t-shirts/sleepsuits so I could stretch them around the card backings and put them into the frame as a nice keepsake/decoration for his room. You could also send them off to be made into a quilt or teddybear if you like, there are people who advertise online that do this or a local seamstress would be someone to ask.

Vinted is good for selling, or offer in a bundle (by size) on FB marketplace, or ask around local friends to see if anyone needs them. It's too soon as your LO is only 1 month old, but once he's a toddler, if you can find someone with around an 18 month gap between your youngest boy and their eldest boy you can sometimes end up with a pretty guaranteed home for clothes! I also find nursery/school whatsapp group to be a good place to ask if anyone needs hand me downs, best if offered for free.

Obviously discard anything that is torn/stained/faded/broken. Don't try to pass on junk. Those can just go to textile recycling.

Last ditch for usable clothes you can't find a home for is charity shop / women's refuge / refugee clothing collection.

I planned to keep favoured items to make something patchwork but by the time baby 2 had been through them I was so fed up do the clutter I just got rid! I'm not a particularly sentimental person, to be fair, so a memory box would have been stuffed in the eaves never to be looked at.

Thank you! I already have memory boxes started for them both, but the quilt is a good idea I could ask my mum and we could make one for each of them, she's good at sewing and it'd be a nice project for us together. As for them not wanting them 30 years on, I'm not sure about that as vintage looks mega trendy, my toddler has been wearing my brothers baby clothes and it's those clothes that are complimented the most! I have two pregnant friends but both are on their 2/3 child and are having girls so no use to them but I'll ask my son's school and donate some, and will bundle some to sell on vinted/fb too :)

Find out if there is a baby bank near you that might like them. Also a refugee charity near us is often after baby clothes
