Baby weight check

After seeing about "regular" baby weight checks on another post, I'm intrigued how many of you have access to these?

Neither of my two children have seen a health visitor since they were 8 weeks old. When I asked about weigh-ins, I was advised to stand on scales with and without the baby! The 2 year check was a questionnaire in the post with a number to text if we had any concerns.

We are in the midlands.

Is this normal? Or do most parents have access to regular baby weight checks? I'm just intrigued. Thank you.

My first was born in 2021 and saw a HV once. No weigh clinics were open.
My second was born December last year and has seen the HV twice already and I'm supposed to take him to weigh clinics once a month apparently.
I actually bought some scales for my first to keep a track of her weight myself but I really need to try and get to a monthly clinic to have DS weighed.

Both mine were born pre pandemic and there were 2 local weekly HV clinics. You could get baby weighed and ask any questions.

They stopped in covid and haven't re started. They really should be back open.

In our area baby weigh clinics are back open but you have to make an appointment whereas when I had my 1st in 2019 you could just turn up

Also in the Midlands; we had a ~10 month check, with the previous being at 8 weeks and the next at 2-3 years. But we have been reminded at every appointment of where the drop in clinics are if we have any concerns in the meantime.

Here we get HV visits with weigh-ins at 6 months, 13 months, 25 months and 3.5 years.

If you are concerned about weight gain you can always weigh them yourself and contact HV or GP if it seems low, then they'll do more weighings.

We have daily weight clinics in different areas, all within a 5 mile radius of our area. I think it's preposterous they aren't offered, I had a very poorly newborn a few years ago and weight was the first issue that brought her illness to the attention of hcps.

I did with my first but this was pre COVID and community health services still existed then.

You only see the HV for appointments post birth, around 1 and around 2.5 where I live unless you need to call them with any concerns. They do height and weight checks at each of the appointments.

Thank you everyone. I've been explicitly told it's not an option here at all. I'm not worried though, I have a 7 month old on 85th centile (according to Baby Centre website), and he's in proportion/meeting milestones etc.

I'm just surprised (am I really though?) that it varies so much depending on postcode.
