Are we better off staying at home for the first few days of potty training?

Ds1 is 2.9 and we started training yesterday. Have been invited out to local farm trust this pm, but not sure what to do.

I know we'll have to go out eventually, lol. But would I better off staying at home for a few days.

Btw, he understands that wee and poo are done in toilet/potty, (did a poo in it yesterday) but had a few accidents, which are to be expected.

Any advice please?

If he's really ready, then I don't think there's any need to stay at home.

Make sure you know where the toilets are, ask him every twenty minutes if he needs to go, take him frequently to try. Make sure you have a couple of changes of clothes with you so that it doesn't matter if he does have an accident.

And have a lovely time at the farm!

Agree with Wig Wam Bam. I would go and take a potty and 2 or three pairs of pants, trousers and socks, spare shoes/wellies.

If you go out, it's someone else's floor that takes the brunt . If you think you'll find it utterly grim and embarrassing sorting out the inevitable accidents, don't go. But if you do go, don't let anyone make you feel bad about it - they have to learn somewhere.

We went to visit an open farm on the sat after starting training on the Monday.
We thought that as it was a farm a bit of little boy wee would blend in nicely with cow pats and sheep poos everywhere!
He will have to get used to going to the loo outside the home so may as well crack on with it eh?
We took a potty and a flat nappy to lay in it to soak up anything.
In the end didn't need it as every 20 mins we made sure that we passed some loos and asked if he wanted to go in.
BUT if you are using one of those 'junior loo seats' at home you might want to take that with you as well - he was so upset at having to sit on a big toilet, thats when we used the potty - in the loos.
Take lots of changes of clothes with you and don't worry about accidents while out and about. I did, then you realise that everyone there with older children has been through the same thing and no one will judge you for carrying a potty or having a child with wet trousers!

Well, I'm kind of thinking that a farm is the best place for these kind of accidents, iykwim

Its all outdoors. Will take some antibacterial wipes just in case he does something on the swing!
