Nappy sizing how does it work?

Hi all,

Im a new mum and trying to understand how the nappy sizes work

Aldi mamia size 1 is for 4-11lb
Size 2 is 6-13lb

Where the weights cross over, i was wondering why this is ? How do you decide which nappy size to put on if they could wear both?

we moved up a size when it was hard to get it round his tummy. We did larger ones at night so it would last longer.

I also have no idea what DS weighs most of the time so just judged it on the nappy fitting or not

Usually the smaller sized ones starts leaking regularly then you know it’s time to size up.

Sometimes a bit of trial an error. A long skinny baby might weigh the same as a short cuddlier baby but they will have different body shapes for a nappy. When my two were in nappies we would go up a size and have to go back down if they leaked. The weights are a guide only. Same for the brands, some brands will suit your baby’s shape better than others

Different shaped babies will need to size up at different weights. Both of mine moved up early due to leaks.

There's a crossover due to different body shapes ie you can have a long and skinny 9lb baby which is very different shape to a short chubby 9lb baby.

Smaller sizes are cheaper but obviously have less absorbant material, so keep them in the smaller as long as you can IF you don't have constant leaks
