Night wetting

My daughter has been potty trained since the age of 2, she did great. We went through a slight regression stage when we went away and went back to nappies for a week. Thankfully it didn’t last long, a few months ago we took the night nappy off and she did a few nights here and there dry and she was really happy about it.

Now since she has started school she wont wake up in the night to take herself to the toilet, she is just super exhausted and goes into a deep sleep, when she wakes wet she comes into our room soaked and gets really upset, sometimes her whole top and whole pj bottoms are wet, she is not drinking that much and def not after 6pm! we make her go to the toilet before bed and after story time. We have tried lifting her on the toilet she still wakes up wet and it’s not a long term solution.

She often gets into our bed and has had accidents in our bed which means double the washing and to be honest it’s really taking it’s toll on me as DH works nights so it’s me that has to deal with it. I put one of her younger brothers nappy on her the other night as we had no more spare bedding and the nappy was very full in the morning (she was swinging it between her legs lol). Is she too old to go back to nappies at night? We are going away in a couple of weeks on holiday and I need to get something sorted before we go.

It's fine for older children to wear night time pull ups.

Night dryness is hormonal and happens for some children later than others.

If it was me personally she would have been back in a nappy at night a long time ago. Both of mine are not potty trained yet but they will be wearing something at night until they are reliably dry. I think it would be far less embarrassing for her to have a nappy on than wake up with wet pj’s and bed.

We use the Amazon Mama Bear nappies and they are great at night with our 3yo so might be worth looking into them. They have a wetness indicator which we have found handy in the daytime and I think they go up to 7’s if I am not mistaken.

I think you are right, it should have been done a while ago. I will buy some of them and see how she gets on with them.

Nappies and I wouldn’t really give her a choice.

I have an older bed wetter and yes it is totally fine to keep them in night time pants. Don’t lift at night - it doesn’t help long term at all. It’s a hormone that suppresses urine production at night and that can happen at a vast range of different ages. At 7, We were referred to a eurisis clinic - and eventually an alarm helped us. But sudden onset nightwetting is often down to constipation apparently . So it is worth a trip to the doctor even if they are under 7.
