C section recovery

I had an emergency C section 15 weeks ago... very traumatic birth but we are both OK!
Anyway, the scar is pretty ugly and wonky and I need to start putting something on it. However it still feels really sore to touch never mind rub moisturiser on it. Sometimes my DS will kick it when playing etc and it just hurts so much.

Would be interested to hear if anyone else has experienced this and what I can do to help it. I've felt miserable during mat leave as its took so long to feel normal again.

Lots of people recommend bio oil. I know some people who have found almond oil helpful. It does take a long time sometimes for it to settle. Mine have healed nicely and quite thin but I still get itch and numbness and my first c sec was 30 years ago and the last 10 years ago.

I was told that it doesn’t matter what you put on it (within reason) as long as you are massaging it. And it doesn’t need to be you doing the massage - can your partner do it? Or can you touch it with something that won’t aggravate it?

if you can, I’d really recommend going to a post natal physio who can advise you on massage.

At nearly 4 months pp I'm not sure that it should still hurt as such - I know mine didn't when I had DS. Mine was probably numb by this point so if it's still causing you trouble I'd get it checked out to be sure

I had a c section a year ago and it took a good few months for it to recover, I know it's frustrating now but just know it will get better you just have to give it time

My obstetrician advised massaging daily with mad strength voltarol gel, which was great for inflammation, but that was at something like 4-6 weeks post partum (can’t remember exactly). I don’t think it’s not normal that yours hurts that much actually. I’ve had 2 and whilst it takes a while for the scar to fade, by 10-12 weeks physically it all felt completely normal. I would see the GP if I were you because 15 weeks is a long long time to be in so much pain.

I’d get it seen if it’s really causing you pain, you can’t be too careful.

I couldn’t even look at mine for ages, the thought of it make me feel sick and I hated it, certainly couldn’t have massaged it without wanting to puke. But I was having issues with hyper sensitivity and numbness and started using silicon strips for scars once it was healed (had a yuck infection 3 weeks in that set me back) and that really helped so much. I had to sort of touch it but only to change the strips and within a couple of months the sensation was completely normal again and I barely thought of it.

It’s hip to hip and one side is a bit wonky but it faded to a thin white line and caused me no issues.

Having an ELCS next week and going to use a different strip thing I found I think from Elastoplast. The one I used was from Amazon.

If you are still in proper pain 15weeks out def get it checked out properly ie not a gp
I was taught how to massage it to loosen the fascia by a physio who specialises in post partum care and also got silcone scar plasters.

My scar healed incredibly well BUT i had a super straight forward surgery / recovery from an elcs
