Link below hope it has worked.

So interesting! I have a 4 month old and so will be weaning soon. I was going to wait until 6 months but this study suggests there could be serious benefits to weaning earlier (for foods with high risk of allergies, at least).

I have a lot of friends who weaned their babies at 5 months.

What do others think? Would this / will you change your weaning plans?

It is interesting. When my dcs were little the recommended nipple cream had peanut oil in, so my dcs were absorbing peanuts from birth!

My oldest started weaning around 4 months old. I’ve never fed her anything peanut based as we don’t usually have it in the house anyway. So far, she’s never had a reaction.

My youngest was weaned a little later due to CMPA which he eventually grew out of just after the age of 1. Again, no peanut based products but apart from the CMPA, he hasn’t shown any other allergies.

I’ll be weaning my second before 6 months due to high risk of allergies. Oldest has multiple and is under allergy clinic. She was weaned at 6 months and in her case I don’t think early introduction would’ve made much difference, but the second seems less obviously risky (no signs of CMPA just yet) so maybe it’ll help to reduce her risk.

We were recommended to follow this by an allergy specialist with my daughter and she doesnt have any other allergies except cmpa which was diagnosed at 2 weeks old.
I'm 100% also following with my second, I've got a nut allergy, luckily not severe but anything I can do to reduce my children's chance of allergies, I am doing it!

Thank you all for your replies.

@BabyB2022 when did you start weaning with your DD and what did you start your weaning with? Did you go straight onto allergy ladder, or did you start with veg (or something else)? My 4 month old DD has CMPA so any advice you can offer would be wonderful 😀 thank you!

I weaned my eldest at 4 months due to weight and allergies.

Youngest started herself at 5.5 months. 6 months is a guide and most babies aren't ready until 6 months, but it can be useful to do it early.

My youngest was actually part of a trial for this. My eldest loves peanut butter and so it was easy to fit it in for her. She had to have a teaspoon twice a week.

Oldest has CMPA and so far youngest has nothing.

Weaned both mine at 4 months ignoring the recommendations at that time. I come from a culture we do this as there is scarcity of formula milk and it is expensive , women going to work , to make sure that the children thrive and don't result in malnutrition and my mum just went it has been like this for millennia and there is no need to change that. She had brought up her three children and has been heavily involved with bringing up several children of close family members.

I was advised to avoid peanuts due to the risk of children developing peanut allergy. We had farm and grew peanuts, just ate them as wanted the unborn child to be exposed to the peanuts!
