I carry dd (5 months) in a wrap sling on my front and slipped over this morning on the ice whilst walking down the road. She was fine, screamed for a few minutes but just a bit shellshocked. I on the otherhand am bruised and very sore as a result of trying to shield dd as we fell. I have mentioned a couple of times recently that my worst fear whilst carrying dd would be tripping/falling over. Me thinks I talked it up, ouch!

oh no poor you norfolk!

I wish I would have been out with the pram instead, at least if I had slid over then dd would have been o.k. She would have just seen mummy disappearing rapidly from sight under the pram handle!

ahhh poor you at least you and your DD are still in one piece though (not that thats any consolation obv.) my friend fell in the ice last year around this time taking her DD out to the car and broke her arm. her DD was ok just a bit put out to land on the ground ontop of her mummy. hope you dont feel too sore xx

ouch

Hope you're both ok and not too badly hurt... take it easy tomorrow (er, today)

verylittlecarrot · 12/02/2008 00:47

Oh no!

I worry about this too when I'm wearing dd. Mind you, if you had been just holding her (not in sling) it would have been nastier, and if she had been in the pram it might have tipped. Don't give yourself a hard time worrying about this, you can't prevent these sorts of accidents.

I do hope you feel better soon, and get your confidence back quickly.

SnappyLaGore · 12/02/2008 01:19

ah but the deliciousness of endless cuddles on days you dont fall over outweigh the shock of todays tumble...

hope you feel better soon...

S1ur · 12/02/2008 01:31

If she been in the parm she could'vr brrn rolling away from you into the road there's always what ifs...

Bsbywearing safe. ...just not trip proof!

i fell carrying ds down the stairs the other day. he's fallen down before and i've felt guilty that i haven't felt guilty iyswim. my mum said she felt sick when he fell and i said toddlers always fall down stairs and she needed to relax. then i fell whilst carrying him and i knew that sick feeling. i think it was cos when he fell it was his fault wheras when i fell with him it was my fault and i felt bad for that. doesn't really make sense i know.

belgo · 12/02/2008 06:20

yes, actually I would be worried about the pram rolling away, especially as I live on a hill!

I've also fallen down a few stairs whilst holding a baby - and it was me who got all the bruises!

Ooh I feel sore after yesterday's fall, I ache like I've run a marathon! I think what now grates is that I feel too knackered to get out out of the house and do stuff and dd is a lively little bugger. I was thinking last night before bed that it's going to make for a very uncomfortable couple of days. Also because I am breastfeeding I think I can only take paracetamol which are not a patch on nurofen etc.
