Bouncer suggestions?

TisforTucan · 16/03/2023 16:26

Hi I need suggestions for quality bouncers. Baby is due soon and I've seen the bouncer guide on here but I'm stuck what to get. I like the look of the Joie Sansa 2 in 1 but don't really want to go over £150 as babies aren't in them for long.

Looking for something with a smallish footprint as my lounge is quite small (with Moses basket it will be snug), although we do have a dining room that is bigger so it could be stored in there.

Thank you

Everyone I know has used the Baby Bjorn bouncer. It's a little over £150 but worth its weight in gold. I used it every day for about 9 months when DS was a baby.

Bluestar27 · 16/03/2023 16:37

We have the Joie Dreamer™ Rocking Seat & Bouncer. Also need it to not take up a lot of room as living in a flat. It can be flattened and transported easily if needed. Good vibrations, tunes and toys. Can be adjusted so baby is quite upright or put back slightly. Baby loves it! One of the best things we’ve bought. We have easily washed it too.

Lemonandorange · 16/03/2023 16:46

We used a £20 one from Argos, baby will use it for 3/4 months at most. As long as it's safe and comfortable, you don't need to spend a lot

We had babybjorn. Used almost 2 years as used until about 9 months as baby bouncer, then you turn fabric around and it’s toddler seat.

It folds flat in one click so we stored flat under the sofa.
You can usually get good deals on marketplace secondhand if you prefer

Moonshine160 · 16/03/2023 17:07

Baby Bjorn.

AluckyEllie · 16/03/2023 17:10

Baby bjorn secondhand on Facebook- £25. You can replace or wash the fabric bit if fussy. We took it everywhere- PILs, on uk breaks, used it in the garden. It was the only way I could get a shower when husband was away working.

Twizbe · 16/03/2023 17:35

I had a fisher price one from Amazon that was like £30. It had a vibrate setting that we never used.

Eldest loved it, youngest hated it.

F1nit0 · 16/03/2023 20:32

Nested bouncer from Smyth's is a dupe for the baby Bjorn but only £45. I had the joie spinning vibrating all bells and whistles £150 and my baby didn't like it. He loves the nested one.

SouthLondonMum22 · 16/03/2023 21:07

Another one who says Baby Bjorn. Worth every penny.

Marchforward · 16/03/2023 21:12

I disagree. I bought a baby bjorn and DD 1 found it ok. I got a second basic bouncer off a pass it on page for upstairs when I had DD2 and it was much better. I don’t understand how people are using bouncers at 9 months as my kids were too active and wouldn’t have been safe in them at that point.

TisforTucan · 17/03/2023 00:03

Really for the Baby Bjorn? I'm worried about the lack of vibrations as I've always had vibrating rockers for my babies.

I may goto Smyths and check out the Nested bouncer as FB marketplace is crap in Wales, I've checked now for a Bjorn but I hardly get replies when I message.

DH found the Joie dreamer rocker which is quite reasonable too but not as up right.

I just had a very basic old fashioned one. You're not meant to keep babies in them for long periods of time so I'd avoid spending loads of money, and the ones with all the toys etc aren't great as they overstimulate the baby

BabyB2022 · 17/03/2023 01:59

Agree with others with baby bjorn, we tried another cheaper one but much preferred the bjorn and was a godsend for my daughter suffering bad reflux. I bought it second hand and now using it with my second so definitely got a lot of use out of it.

addyj · 17/03/2023 03:48

The baby Bjorn is really worth its weight in gold honestly. We started with a cheapie bouncer thinking 'what difference can it make?' And baby literally went in there once, would just cry in there and look miserable. Had nowhere to just put him down.
So we cracked and bought the baby Bjorn second hand on marketplace (still not cheap and you have to set up and alert and get in there first and they fly off, even second hand). We only paid the price out of desperation but knowing now how good it was I would have paid 5 times that.

I could write a detailed essay on why it's simply the best but I will try not to go on too much 😂

redandwhite1 · 17/03/2023 04:39

Bsbybjorn every day of the week

Used it for both of mine for almost 9-10 months

Caspianberg · 17/03/2023 04:58

@Marchforward - my super active baby/ toddler used babybjorn until nearly 2. You take fabric off, rotate and it’s used without the straps as toddler seat.
When I wanted to stop breastfeeding daytime around 12 months, he would then happily sit in it cosy and drink a beaker of milk after lunch before he had a nap from 12-24 months.

He would also sit on his knees it it from about 8/9 months and bounce it so much I thought he would catapult himself one day!

Its one of the only ones designed and weighted not to tip over once they can sit and folds flat to store.

There is a duplicate on Amazon also that might be worth looking at

The only place mine were still was restraining in a car seat/buggy, sling or cuddled up or asleep in mine or their Daddy’s arms otherwise they were crawling, walking or in dd2 case learning to climb.

Caspianberg · 17/03/2023 07:15

@Marchforward - they aren’t restrained, that’s what I mean. There’s no straps in toddler mode. Ds was walking at 8.5 months and would climb in and out himself with a book for example like a normal comfy chair

What I’m saying is mine wouldn’t sit down unless restrained so they just ignored it.

Paddingtonsmarmlade · 17/03/2023 07:25

We have a small house and went for the tiny love 3 in one rocker. That way I could use it as a bed as well as a rocker. Both of mine used it as a seat well into toddler stage (didn't strap them in they'd get in and out themselves)

ThePurpleOctopus · 17/03/2023 07:42

We had the Baby Bjorn one and agree it's good. We then gave it away as we hour we were 'one and done, but ended up having a second child.

I looked at buying another one but couldn't stomach the cost. Ended up with a Maxi Cosi one which looks almost identical and does the exact same thing.

Still not cheap (maybe £80-ish), but cheaper than the Baby Bjorn for the same item, essentially.

Think it was from Amazon.

BootsTrapBootsTrap · 17/03/2023 08:46

I never had a baby bjorn bouncer and didn't know what one was, I've just looked it up and can't see the difference between it and a cheap one. The fabric?

Also second what another poster said how on earth are babies using that for up to 10 months? My baby used theirs for a couple of months and was then crawling from 6 months.

Caspianberg · 17/03/2023 12:12

This is example of a toddler using the seat. It’s just becomes a regular toddler size seat for drinking milk, watching tv, looking at book etc.

Its up to 13kg which would be massive for a just 6 months old, seeing as my Ds is almost 3 years and just weighs 13kg. He could still have used the seat as somewhere comfy now if he wasn’t so tall.

Bouncer suggestions?
TisforTucan · 22/03/2023 11:26

I ended up getting a second hand baby Bjorn off eBay as everything local had gone. It has the toy bar so it was a bargain really.

Fingers crossed now as I'm worried I'll have to get another vibrating one 😅. Than you all
