Is this car sickness?

We have been on holiday recently and my 8 month old has suddenly started vomiting, mostly while in the car. It never happened before this trip but has now happened 5 times. Although she has always been vomity in the reflux sense these are huge vomits that soak her clothes and the car seat. The first time was in a taxi to Heathrow (our car seat but belted in rather than on the base) and she also vomited several hours later in her stroller while at the airport. The next time was after driving for 45 min just after we turned off the highway (in borrowed car seat) and then another 2 times in different days back and forward on a windy road (in different borrowed car seat). Does this sound like car sickness or something else? All except the airport one were in the car but we have taken other trips without her being sick as well. Most of them were at least an hour after a feed. Any ideas how to prevent it? She’s too little to tell us what’s wrong and it’s horrible to watch (and even worse on the motorway when we can’t stop).

My eldest started getting carsick at 8 months. Other than the stroller one, the rest of your examples sound similar.

You have my sympathies. We just had to limit journeys to 30 minutes max for a good while or carefully plan longer journeys so there were lots of breaks. I wish I had better advice.

My eldest has been car sick for as long as I can remember. I think it probably started about the same age but he hated the car from being tiny. For ages he had a limit of around 30 minutes in the car after which point he basically became a time bomb. Sometimes he would be sick even on shorter journeys and at times after he had got out of the car - particularly memorably is the time he pebble dashed the foyer of our local sainsburys.

as he’s got older it has been easier to manage - mostly by letting him pick the songs (thank god for CarPlay). As a young child it was better if he could sleep on the journey.

Yep, all sounds like DD. From about 6 months onwards any journey of more than 20/30 mins was vomit central.

My only tip is never feed them blueberries before setting out. Especially when you’ve borrowed granny’s car with pale seats.

At nearly 3.5 she’s a bit better now, but car journeys are still UNFUN.

We only were able to drive beyond 20m when baby was 2 and old enough to take half a tablet of Dramamine Kids, which we buy online.
